I'll be happy if I made 5 oz per plant. Cuz I pay 200 a oz here in michigan. That wud pay for itself in medicine my first grow. For real. I just want better smoke for me. And 1 up my friends who been doing it for years. That's my only goal. Better bud. Hopefully more production. Well see.

Ur right I wont get that much prolly. But id be happy with 4 to 8 oz per plant I guess. Wud hold me over til next harvest. Between making hash and edibles and oil I'll be set til my next harvest. I'm not selling it. Just for medicinal use.
Harmless POLL. Pick one.

1. Noobs DIY hydro has light leak and gets root rot week 6.

2. Noob overnutes and gets yellow leaves, thinks it a deficiency and overnutes again.

3. Both #1 and #2.

4. Gets about a pound. Give or take.

I'm a go with 4. :bigjoint:

To the op, I can give u a feeding schedule to follow for advanced that won't actually kill your plants. Or you can simple cut their feeding recommendations in half.

I speculate that many 1st timers end up getting some touchy strain like cookies or blueberry and then wonder what went wrong.

Before I started back in '02 I researched and then realized I needed to start with a hardy skunk or indica because they basically grow themselves. So I order some D.passion's skunk #1 feminized (this was 2002 and most people told me I was nuts for order seeds and even crazier for getting feminized), but that skunk was almost impossible to fudge up and cloned like nobody's business and ordering seeds put me light years beyond my circle of buddies and the weed they were smoking/buying.

So I got cocky and order D.P. blueberry (regular this time and split the seeds three ways so I only had three beans but still got two killer phenos with one that looked just like D.P. blueberry catalog picture with blue, purple, red hues it was best weed I've ever grew hands down) which ended up being one of the touchiest, hard to clone strains and eventually everyone lost the clones because the skunk had built up our egos, but it turned out we still had a lot to learn. It was a humbling experience but it taught me about stem rot and temps. Without that easy hardy skunk we would have been f**ked.

But then again like many have suggested, I started in dirt with a ten plants that I reduced to 6. If you put time in and really try, you'll be alright with dwc but it is always better to start small and work our way up.

Ok. Well then my goal is to pull a gram per watt. If that's more realistic. 1000 grams? Challenge accepted.

nicksol, im going to offer constructive criticism. 1000w for a 5x5 tent is a wee bit overkill for various reasons, and I will start with this....there can be such thing as too much light, unless I missed it you didnt mention anything about CO2 dosing, and in that space with that light is a must do

second, 600 watts are actually best efficency with best watts per lumen, so if you have done the research you said you have done then you would have seen this on many forums, many youtube videos, and even in the cannabis bible.

Scrogging a single plant in DWC is your best chance of getting your dream first yield, but this takes lots and lots of training (fimming, topping, lst, and supercropping), it also means you have to have your eye glued to any deficiencies, overdoses, bugs, molds and fungus and react quick to fix them.

Another variable in yield is strain dependent, what you see someone getting a 1.5 pound out of 1 strain doesn't mean they will get it out of the next strain they grow

So take your time, keep the plant alive and learn your danger signs in the leafs, steams and the environment around the plant

I'm probably wasting my time, but what is being said is that all the gear and research you do/have will still not give you a tenth the experience as a couple simple grows will. firsthand realtime knowledge comes from experience. so many factors to consider and so many different strains, we just don't want to see you set yourself up for a massive failure.

Hey man. Alls I can say is your enthusiasm is fairly typical for many noobs. They wanna go all out and hit a big time homer one uppin everybody else in the world. My first grow I built a really nice cab complete with PC exhaust fans, stained on the outside and painted white inside, bottom shelf with holes for passive air intake and even an upper shelf under the raisable hood for the timer and exhaust. I spent several $$ and did it myself. I was so proud of myself. I used it one time. lol

My first light I took an old grill top painted it with silver paint and bought commercial/adjustable light fixtures and the housing to hold them, soldered my connections to run 4 ginormous 65 actual watts for a total 230 actual watts of CFL. Those bulbs alone cost me more than $100. Had to replace one that I broke. I have an electrical background and that stuff was legit safe. I used it once. Still use one of this CFLs in garage and sometimes for supplemental.

I found an old humongous microwave in the trash and took out the bottom with the plate rotator motor and built a frame under it and put a 120 cord on it calling it a sort of "light mover". It worked and I was so proud of myself. I used it once. For maybe 5 minutes. It would not work in a soil grow after watering, the pot for to heavy.

I still got all of that junk I was so proud of.

My first grow I had enough common sense to get a hardy auto seed "Dinafem Roadrunner" that you can't hardly screw up. I used MG soil and MG ferts. I ferted that thing from early on and had a very slight burn on the tips of my leaves and grew a nice bush. It was the most solid plant I've grown so far. I did have a few bugs though.

I've done hydro, with a powergrower from GH and it worked excellent. Thing is, you gotta PH that thing every day cause my PH creeped. Not a lot of work, but I like set it and forget it much better which is why I do Hempy now.

Keep in mind I'm a one plant conservative type grower so, just trying to get me a little med for myself. Don't use much anyway. O lasts me a long time.

Anyway, if your gonna do hydro, I can't express enough about buying you a good Drip/DWC system. Maybe that 4 bucket system or GH Water farm type with reservoir. They come pretty legit and that's why they been on the market so long. I like LED cause I don't have to worry about heat. Not because it will do better than HID. Conservative. In the future I plan to go with GH nutes using Lucas Formula. Cause it seems so easy and effective. Now I mostly use GH Flora series 3 part. It works fine.

Anyway best of luck and don't take the joking around to harsh. Most of us been a noob. ;-)

lol I think the humble train is getting ready to make a pass through this thread. OP, please keep us updated on your awesome 4 pound 5x5!

No but seriously I kinda feel bad that you are making such a huge investment with no experience.

I spent 13 years researching and growing killer 3+ pound outdoor plants and I still couldn't clear 4 OZ per plant indoors until I had 2 years under my belt. Now that I've been running indoors non-stop for five years I'm finally able to hit a half L from a single plant after a 2 month veg time.

I wish you the best but you might not want to get too cocky until you have proven yourself.

I have seen SOOOO many people come and go with the same attitude you have.Just the simple fact that you are asking the old question "how much yield" is plenty enough evidence to know you won't be getting anywhere near what you think you will.

Here in my circle in Detroit, we like to call you fellas "bagseed millionaires". But I truly wish you success, I just hate seeing somebody stuff a foot in their mouth without even realizing it. Prepare to be humbled.

You guys are tripping. If dude spent top dollar on nutes, lights, fans and a tent, then he is going to pull 2 maybe 3 grams per watt. Advance nutes and their feed chart will pack on the pounds especially if he gets a top yielder like GSC or the Dr. Grinspoon.

I've read countless articles and have found that if you only spend a thousand on your setup, you'll get tiny yields. If you spend two thousand on your setup, you'll pull a moderate yield. If you spend three grand, you'll get gram per watt. But if you spend like four grand, you'll cop four pounds per 5x5 tent.

I believe you'll find that in Jorge's indoor grow guide!
