Yea, the herb has a lot of medicinal qualities, and also has great recreational qualities too:weed: but with the way the economic downturn at the moment, it would be a good time to start regulating cannabis and also creating thousand if not millions of jobs, this would also help inject a lot of cash into the economy

For example in the 1920 & 1930 the authorities played into Al Capone and many more mob gangsters with the prohibition of Alcohol and they where playing into there hands by actually banning it and they where getting rich of it and also causing a lot of hours and police time and many lives lost due to prohibition and today is exactly same the goverment are playing into hands of gangsters and allowing them to control the weed trade and letting them get rich in the process.

*Quick Update*

I think to legalise marijuana question currently is at 11th I think, so not far now

Remember we are after top ten or better, this question has gone up a lot but we need everyones help now we are just outside top ten so would be a real shame not to get it in top 10 questions for Obama

Have to add tho, Obama is a great guy a real change and a modern inspiration to many of us here and all over the world.

Well the voting on this issue that started this thread is over and they pretty much ignored it even though it ended up being the 4th most voted for. Now there is something called the citizen briefing book that is up for vote now. Currently legalizing weed is going back and forth from #2 and #3!!!! Go login and make a difference!!! These issues will be put on Obama's desk and he will have to address them. Please act now!

Wasn't the site created by the obama administration itself??? I'm sure they will be looking at it. Notice that you can vote for decriminalization under the "criminal justice" heading and also under the "economy" heading. I find that interesting, It seems they may actually have an awarness as to how useful cannabis can be.

Yea I'm sure the obama administration will be looking at the issue

To legalise weed after question got in top 4 is a big thing for a country to do straight away, they will have to do look into it more, but now they know that USA people want this issue looked into more they will.

The good thing is tho, we got the votes we got in the top 5 questions, shows how united us smokers are and I'm sure if we keep fighting for legalisation of marijuana it will come, even if it takes 20 years, you have to keep fighting and trying to get the voice heard.

First of all, let me say I have spoken as loudly as I can (sorry Washington, no $50,000) to our leaders. I've phoned, emailed, voted, sent letters, etc. Obama is not likely to push hard for decriminalization/legalization early in his administration. When the Clintons first took the White House, they tried to push left hard and fast. Gay rights, abortion, and health care were all pushed very hard. Many White House aides were overtly homosexual (not that it's wrong, this is just a fact). This was done to send a message. Not we're here and we're queer, but we are here and whether you like it or not and this is what we are about.

Old school republicans, and old school Washington does not care to have things thrown in their face. If you remember in Clinton's first term, his/her health care initiative was shot down on Capitol Hill repeatedly. This was not because it was a bad idea. It was 100% backlash from old Washington. Obama will likely steer clear of a very liberal social change agenda initially. Sadly, there are bigger issues at stake. If he is able to get some good accomplished (economy, health care, Iraq, etc) without alienating 1/2 of D.C., then we might see some laws changed regarding marijuana social policy.

The political capital like Obama has now is very hard to come by. It would be foolish to spend it early on anything other than a really big idea. I'm not saying marijuana policy isn't a big deal. I'm just saying from a political standpoint, it is barely on the radar for most politicians. Voting in these surveys is definitely A way to let those in charge that this matters.

I think most of these guys know what is right. Just as cocaine was popular in D.C. in the 70's and 80's, I would imagine marijuana shares a similar although smaller constituent. It's just a matter of timing, political capital, and public support. No elected official wants their name on a failed drug policy bill that involved being "softer on crime", "easy on drug dealers", or "marijuana friendly". No matter how noble the cause is, this just provides too much ammunition for the opposition come election time. No candidate wants to spend their entire campaign defending their views on marijuana use. While most Americans support decriminalization or medical marijuana, they don't neccessarily vote along that line.

All this being said, PLEASE let it known some way, some how that you support more lenient marijuana laws. These surveys are easy and fairly anonymous ways to do that. Phone calls are also effective. Some of us are in a position in society, that our jobs and livlihoods could be taken from us if it were known that we smoke. For those people, it is prudent to avoid talking to one's coworkers, friends, and neighbors about marijuana to avoid drawing undue attention to ourselves. If you can't do that, PLEASE do this. If not this, do something!!!

I live in Canada but I still encourage all you Americans to do this....I'm sure it would help our government also change their minds about the issue at hand. America usually has harsher Marijuana laws than us so it might persuade our government to change something due to the fact you guys will have decriminalized it.

Agreed:clap:

that's all we can do is keep getting the word out there, so that the goverment will see that marijuana is up there with the top 10 things the USA wants something done about the issue, as currently there systems is not that good, the more we keep voting, the more we never give up, they will listen.

For me it doesn't matter if marijuana never get legalised in my life time because I know I am never going to give up the fight and will die trying but the more we keep doing it, the more people who join us in the fight the goverment will change some day, if you don't keep fighting then we will never get any where, I know some people are a little disheartned that they voted for question and not much really happend but trust me that's just a start.

So in short.

KEEP FIGHTING FOR LEGALISATION

NEVER GIVE UP

EXPLAIN TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY ABOUT CANNABIS, AS QUITE A LOT OF THE TIME IF THEY DON'T SMOKE THEY WILL LISTEN TO THE GOVERMENTS RUBBISH ABOUT WEED THAT IT MAKES YOU GO INSANE ETC

KEEP IT GREEN, KEEP SMOKING AND SPEAD THE WORD.
