I think the best thing would be a switchable ballast HPS+MH, but how many watts......I believe I calculate that by my grow area?

can I get some information about selecting the correct watts, I might have ten plants by the time I buy the light system, im sure you calculate the square footage of ?
the plants, containers? what

thank you
Measure the length and width of your grow area. Multiply those numbers together to get your square feet. a 4x4 area can be done with one 400 W HID system. a 7x7 would probably take two 400 W or one 800 W. The more wattage the higher the temperature. Make sure you get good ventilation or a fan system setup to help cool it down. I use one floor fan set to low blowing constantly right on the plants. That ballast looks decent but make sure you get lights with it. Those can end up costing as much as the system when they are not included.

As for your PM question it dosent matter which way you plant the seeds. The root will always go down in the soil and the top will go up. The plants have it built into their DNA.

Good luck and happy growing.

BIG THANKS TO XENOSIS.....transplant into the new soil of the last one standing has turned majority of the plant green....it look like its on its way to something haha... it deff was the soil i was using, now that we have discovered that I hope I can get these new seedlings to do well and prob beat a plant that has been trying to grow for over a month....

glad i could help mate. and yeah baddfrog's right on with the light setup. depends how many plants you want to grow and how much space you have. id recommend investing in a cooltube or easycool reflector as with higher wattage the temps go up pretty damn high. makes it much easier to add an inline fan to the setup that is dedicated to cooling the light. id also recommend investing in a digital ballast. 600watt is a good happy medium for a mid size grow.

ill try to get some updated pics of my plant up later. the growth rate has been insane over the last week.

yea man i would love to see some of ur pics.......i woke up today with another 9 germinated seeds!!!!!....I just finished planting them....I have a total of 15 newly planted seeds!!!

I'm almost positive your N-P-K is too high that looks like nutrient burn. how often are you watering? I would flood the shit out of that soil to help flush away the nutrients in the soil. and I wouldn't dive it any more nutrients in tell your plant recovers and is completely green no burnt leaves. nutrient burn is most noticeable on the new growth.

dude i resolved that problem and its not nute burn....the soil it was in was only peat moss....have you read through the whole thread??????????

It's up to you, I have my grows listed in my signature so anyone can click them, that's always a good idea. I am happy to hear your luck with germination. When I first started that was a big hurdle for me. Once you get the hang of it growing becomes a lot more fun and zen then stressful worry. When plants are dieing you feel like crap, but once you get them growing healthy they become a part of you. Hope you can get a great harvest. Let me know if you change the home for your journal.

Sorry, not qualified to answer that.

For my organics I just keep them under a t5 until they are about a week away from being ready to transplant, then I start hardening them off. That way when they are ready to transplant, I can just throw them outside full time.

For indoor I use all starter plugs. For that it's just a matter of checking the roots until I think they are ready for big boy cubes.

and is it better to put my seedlings in the shade rather then under my bulbs, or keep them in the hot sun....i dont think hot sun is good idea.......its about 87 out and 45% humidity today

should I water the seedlings using a spray bottle?......when do the seedlings need to be in nutrient rich soil?
yeah get the top cm pretty moist. when its got some real leaves the roots should be far enough down to be looking for nutes.

thats not too bad for a day, but you really just need to get a new light.
