Your thoughts on huge smart pots?

I saw where a lot of people who grow giant plants are growing in those 200-400 gallon smart pots? Is 200gal really necessary? Whats an ideal smart pot size for a beginner grower who wants big yields? Also I'm worried about the cost.. I don't wanna spend over 300 bucks I plan on growing 6 plants but when I think about soil costs nutrients etc It appears I might have to spend over my budget.

Start off small if you are new to growing.....5 gallon fine. Focus on growing the plant not what it yields.....Yes, more roots = more fruits if you know what you're doing.

Also these people in 200 gallon pots are legal growers. An illegal grower like myself would not want the tree that a 200 gallon pot produces. Check out some of the threads. Ypou can do a lot in a 10-20 gallon pot.

I'm growing 15 females in 15 gallon smart pots this year. I will pull in the neighborhood of 10-12 ounces per plant relatively easy.

Personally I use 7 gallon pots indoors, keeping plants around 3 - 4ft tall before putting them into flower. I started with 5 gallon pots but felt that my plants were becoming too root bound during the flowering stage. If I were to grow outdoors I feel 30 gallon pots would be my go to.

strain dependent....grower dependent....area dependent...lots of variables. Have seen some pretty large pulls off 5 gallon pots.......

I got 12 sour d that are 3 feet tall in 15 gallon pots that I'm going to try light depo in starting June 1 if I get 8 ounce each I be happy

Is my first time trying light depo so could go all bad for me only time will tell

10 - 30 gallon is a gd size for newbs just remember theres really no need to start a 15 gallon at the earliest possible time to put them out...you will get as much off a 15 gallon starting them a month later than normal.
8-16 is a gd ballpark figure for 15s with a decent strain

I pulled 20oz off 6 plants in 3 gallon cans. And I'm a noob.
My friend has pulled 6 ounces a plant in 5 gallon totes.

But remember. The pot is one of many variables that will affect outcome
Medium
Light
Nutes
Air
Trimming/pruning
Accidents
And the list goes on And on

I'm looking at either 15 or 25 gal indoors. Love the fabric Geopots

With the right genetics you can yield 1 oz. per gallon of medium relatively easy outdoor in fabric pots. I used the 10gal pots last year and pulled 21 oz. between two. Going into 15gal's this year and will be expecting ~1lb. per plant, right genetics is key, not just for yield but also to fight off bugs, PM, mold etc.

I was thinking same thing...15-25 and I was going to look for 20's, but might as well get 25's. No till are they not? Those extra 10 galls will come in handy....

No-till, exactly. With constant-moisture levels from drippers. RO water

Well you can get more in a 25

And, more roots more fruits

There comes a time when soil volume and water availability and air temp all fall out,

from memory its about 30 usgallon where the water is lost if any further volume is used

water can penetrate but most leaks out the sides, leaving the interior roots still dry

if going above 30usgallons I'd go hemp cloth, but better is IN THE GROUND ..lol
