Price difference between light spectrum?

What is the main difference between these lights besides the price?

42 Watt - CFL - 150 W Equal - 2700K Warm White

42 Watt - CFL - 150 W Equal - 5000K Full Spectrum

I have been highly considering using CFL's for my first grown and am still trying to wrap my head around the nessisary light spectrums for growing.

Which lights would be better, I plan on buying 8-12 for my grow.

The lights from amazon cost half of what they do at 1000bulbs.com. The funny things is that the seller is 1000bulbs.com through amazon?

What am I missing here? Is the full spectrum 50000k that much better to warrent a overall price tag of twice as much?

Thank you all!

The higher the k the more expensive usually. The 2700s are found everywhere. The 6500s are rare in stores. I've used 1000bulbs. They are fairly priced and good customer service but I found shipping a little slow. I think its a family business. the 2700s are for flower and the higher blue hued ones are good for veg. Look at HTGsupply.coms fluorescent grow lights. I'm about to get a TEK 55 from them for 70 measly dollars.

Yes, I have read good things about 1000bulbs, good to hear more positive feedback. The slow shipping doesn’t bother me to much right now, I am taking my time assembling my grow supplies. Trying to really think my way through the build and do things right.

So the larger the spectrums the larger the price, is the price justified? I plan on not really changing my lights up to much between veg and flowing, actually probably not at all just to minimize my potential to screw things up.

Would you mind sending a link to the TEK 55, I can't seem to find it on HTG.

Thanks!

So the price is not justified, thank you for your input.

After doing a little more research today I will be changing the lighting between grow and veg. The easy of the change seems more than enough reason to change. Also like you mentioned bostoner, the replacements are cheap.

I was planning on using 12 - 42 Watts 6 placed above and 2 on each side, how would this perform in comparison to the Tek-5? Or would you suggest to have additional lighting using the Tek-5?

My grow area will be approximately 30"x30"x17" (W-H-D) and planning on having 3-4 plants at one time.

Thanks,

usually i like to double my wattage from veg to bloom to help keep the stretching down. so for instance if you are using 4 23 watt bulbs that are 6500 k then when you switch to bloom you need 8 23w 2700 k. but there are people that recommend that you use both spectrum when flowering so using 5 2700k and 3 6500...... plus in comparison to using hps and MH bulbs.. cfl are cheep!

I wonder how many amps those 12 42 w cfls draw?As opposed to say a 400 w not to thread jack or anything.because I think the 400 hid would have better penetration.
