A little while back I saw a post about growing in a PC case (computer tower), more of a challenge really. But I built me a box and i grew me a plant. Well I'm half-way really. It's a standard PC case, I stripped the fans out of two old computer power supplies that I had lying around, rigged one as an intake, and the other as exhaust.
I should have painted the inside of the computer tower white, but as my grow is ghetto as hell I used the foil backed insulation that goes around a hot-water tank instead. I know from reading on the sight that this can sometimes cause hot spots that can damage the plant but I haven't had any problems yet.
For lighting I used three 26w cfls that put out 6500k and one 42w cfl that put out 4200k. This kept the temp at around 80 degrees. As for humidity, well I have no idea because I was too cheap to buy a humidistat. But I knew it was pretty dry in there because of the small space and the large fans. So I used a spray bottle with my full strength nute mix to mist the plant once or twice a day. I also took advantage and used the mix to foliar feed as well. My nutrients are: Miracle Grow for tomatoes-18-18-21 (while vegging), and I intend to use Miracle Grow for roses while budding
-18-24-16.
As far as budding is concerned I just flipped it yesterday. For that I got four 26w cfls that put out 2100k
As for the actual growing it self; because of height restrictions I decided to try my hand at LST (low stress training) and discovered that it is so friggin' simple. It also made growing in a case easy. As for the plant itself its doing great. I don't expect much of a yield but its more about the experience for me. It'll only maybe yield an 1-1.5oz but it should be nice Purple Kush.
I know that I can't prove this unless I have pictures so I will try and get some posted soon. In the mean time here's to prying that I didn't just jinx myself.
