I think if there were more vocal advocates for "plural marriage" with a solid reasoning, I would agree.

To my, albeit limited, knowledge, the only major groups shooting for polygamy in America are the FLDS. And their track record is riddled with pedophilia and small-town theocracy, so I kinda discount them. Not on principle, but its been pretty well documented they take teen wives and the overall situation is horrible for the women.

But If a polygamist sect was petitioning the govt that wasn't predicated on horrible things like that, then yes I would support them. It makes the tax and estate situation incredibly mucked up but it should be looked at in earnest at least.

But then again I think all people should pay their fair share in taxes. Married or not. Kids or not. Poor or not. Though obviously in proportion. But everyone should chip in, at least in my mind. Terrible example, but who likes the guy at the bar always ready for you to buy shots, but never buys you a round?

I have said consistently and repeatedly that we need to get government out of marriage so it is not even an issue.
