What are your political deal breakers?

ginwilly is in good company when it comes to people who argue against civil rights.

Would you rather force him to feed people he hates while spitting or doing who knows what to their food out of resentment all while the targets are unaware of the owners feelings?
I don't want anyone to be forced to serve me; especially in the food business. enjoy your semen-burger, Buck.
Your law has forced many blacks to eat spit sandwiches and piss soups over the years.
birds of a feather, ginwilly!

what do you think about the company you keep?

Atwater: As to the whole Southern strategy that Harry S. Dent, Sr. and others put together in 1968, opposition to the Voting Rights Act would have been a central part of keeping the South. Now [the new Southern Strategy of Ronald Reagan] doesn't have to do that. All you have to do to keep the South is for Reagan to run in place on the issues he's campaigned on since 1964 and that's fiscal conservatism, balancing the budget, cut taxes, you know, the whole cluster.

Questioner: But the fact is, isn't it, that Reagan does get to the Wallace voter and to the racist side of the Wallace voter by doing away with legal services, by cutting down on food stamps?

Atwater: You start out in 1954 by saying, "N*gger, n*gger, n*gger." By 1968 you can't say "n*gger" — that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states' rights and all that stuff. You're getting so abstract now [that] you're talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you're talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites. And subconsciously maybe that is part of it. I'm not saying that. But I'm saying that if it is getting that abstract, and that coded, that we are doing away with the racial problem one way or the other. You follow me — because obviously sitting around saying, "We want to cut this," is much more abstract than even the busing thing, and a hell of a lot more abstract than "N*gger, n*gger."[8][9]

No, certain Republicans are trying to co-opt it.

No I didn't and no it's not.
Most of the people in my world would sooner die than vote for a Democrat.

However, their social positions are becoming less and less conservative as time goes by. They are embracing libertarian philosophy.

Now, 15 years ago these were people who were ardent social conservatives and thought all gay people should be killed.

They are moving that way, some are there. I think you are confusing me saying they are moving that way with being there.

And of course it is only some politicians.

BUT REPUBLICANS ARE FOR FREEDOM AND LOVE MERICA!!! THEY EVEN WEAR LITTLE MERICAN FLAG PINS AND PRAY TO JESUS ON THE COLOR TV!!! FREEDOM ISN'T FREE!!!

STATES RIGHTS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN HUMAN RIGHTS BECAUSE THE SOUTH WOULD HAVE EVENTUALLY LET THE WHITE WIMMINFOLK MARRY THE COLOREDS AND WOULD HAVE FREED THE SLAVES AFTER THEY WERE DONE PICKING THE COTTON. THE SOUTH WOULD HAVE LET THEM VOTE AND GO INTO BUSINESSES TOO!!! FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS NOT NEEDED, NO NEED TO MAKE US DO NOTHINS, WE'LL BE NICE TO WIMMINS AND MINORITIES DOWN HERE, i PROMISE!!!!

:::CROSSES FINGERS BEHIND BACK:::

"Hehehe. do ya think he bought it, jethro?"

That doesn't change the fact that the south's history over 50 years ago was appalling. The most recent race riots in this country were in Chicago, Detroit, Boston and LA. The majority of blacks in this country today live in the south. Those facts are ignored by the bigots who think deliverance was a documentary.

Great dueling banjo music though.

not a single true statement there at all.
Black men could own property, engage in business, many locales allowed voting in local elections
The only thing that made blacks hated was the fact that the north stole them from the south and set them free.

There were plenty of free blacks earning livings and respected across the south prior to the civil war.

There are actually quite a few black men from the south around the area where I am presently. That would be the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Most don't speak a bit of Spanish. Fun times.

blacks were hated before the civil war and had less rights than women. this is simple fact.
In truth, they both probably had advantages over the other in different areas of life.

But black men and white women were both second class.

In 1839, if you were a free black man you could own land, business, slaves, eat anywhere you like, you could not marry a white woman, but you could marry a half white woman.

My main point was that their fortunes went for the worse after reconstruction.

It probably wasn't until 1980s that so many did so well.

blacks were treated like animals. a horrible legacy. even a freedman was a second-class citizen in the antebellum South. don't delude yourself.
They were second class citizens everywhere at the time, not just the south. Much worse in the south, but even some of the sympathizers were like the bucks of today thinking blacks needed special laws.
