This is what's going down in Texas. Just C/P from south Texas Facebook post. Port Aransas is a small coastal touristy town and a mecca for local surfers and fishermen.

I am proud of the Aransas Pass PD's decision to offer FREE CHL classes to Aransas Pass residents, and more specifically Captain L. Pearce for taking time to teach these courses. The waiting list in our small town is quite lengthy (100+), and classes are booked as soon as they are announced. I work in/out of Galveston and just found out that PD also offers the same free course for its residents. This seems to be spreading around Texas. If any of you know of other towns following suit, comment here about it. Our citizens need to be informed about their rights to lawfully protect themselves, and the services their law enforcement agencies provide. If the list becomes sizeable, we (I) can make a file about it on our page, and help spread the word to our members.
