New England outdoors 2016

I am thinking of doing a 3 autoflower(free, unknown strains) behind some BlackBerry bushes, in my yard. I have quite a bit of promix bx and would like to use this as I plan on changing mediums inside. I figured a 5 g. hole each would be sufficient. I also plan on using a tomato cage, or chicken wire because a gofer lives here.
I know autos don't take kindly to transplanting but that would mean I would need to directly plant seed in hole. Am I better off transplanting?

I really don't want to invest much in this endeavor but is there anything I should do in terms of preventing problems?

Any and all advice is appreciated.
