yes they do... they may or may not actually look, but that information is there. they don't know about your insurance in triage, and you have the right to be initially assessed by a physician without them inquiring as to your payment ability, but after that initial assessment, registration is in there like swimwear. that's their job :)

some docs use that insurance info to determine which abx to send pt home with in ER, if they have any leeway that is...

@Corso312 hopefully it'll heal well and you'll retain full functionality. as weedfreak stated, losing fine touch is a drag, especially on your dominant side, assuming you're a rightie

Get it looked at. You only have like eight hours to get it stitched.

I cut my thumb bad and hit some nerves. It stays numb.

If you screwed something up, waiting might be a decision you regret the rest of your life.

It will be expensive but you can make payments on it. Plus the hospital will settle for less. You ask for an itemized bill and dispute the stuff like $10 for a Tylenol and $20 for gauze and what not.

More than that. A one inch gash on my thumb was $1400 ten years ago. 40 stitches to the head and ct scan was over $10,000.

I'm not comparing. The gash on the thumb was over $1400 ten years ago.

That was just sutures. You're talking that corso needs that and xray.

I bet the bill is closer to $3000.

Doctors and nurses normally have no idea what their services and prescriptions cost their patients.

You can see the white line/scar running along there, even some little 'Frankenstein' stitching, a lousy job on the doctor's part, ha.

Like I said, my index nail/most of my finger was touching the back of my hand, almost completely flayed open....1-2" of the blade was poking out between my knuckles, it was really in there!

But they don't treat you any different if you do or don't
Or rather they should not treat you any different
It's unlikely they would as their job is about helping people

You should consider getting insurance it pays for itself

I had blue cross blue shield for 15 years and they dropped me like a bad habit the one fucking time I used it...I'm self employed now and health insurance Is definitely on my list... But I gotta think if I had BCBS they call in a hand surgeon and take an xray and send me home with pain pills and antibiotics... I got a tetnous shot in arm and no pills ..I didn't want any pills I wouldn't even take em but I wouldn't mind an antibiotic..

Antibiotics should only be taken when 100% necessary
Sucks about blue shield though
I'm new to USA so I don't know much in terms of insurance but I'm glad I have it
I think I have one of the better ones because all I paid for the entire pregnancy and birth was 34$ But I saw the bill for the delivery and it was over 20 thousand dollars
