if anything, what im getting from this would be to remove the buds which are essentially a lost cause and are parasitic to the growth of the terminal buds.

Keep in mind, removin larf will lower total yield. Just re-distribute remaining sugars.

Simply put... Here's the facts.

In Veg...
Defoliation does not increase yield.
Defoliation does not decrease yield.
Defoliation simply slows growth..
It's commonly used to train your plants in different ways. I use Scrog.

In flower...
Defoliation does not increase yield.
Defoliation will most definitely decrease yield.
Removal of just bud sites and not leaves, may be a redistribution of carbohydrates for larger growth of the remaining buds.

I agree with you, i dont think you understand the purpose of defoliation. You are oversimplifying a complicated technique. There is no question that if u gives 2 plants ample light and space and u chop the leaves off one and not the other the one with leaves will yield more. This is not relevant to what we are discussing. When you are growing cannabis you want to maximize your space, and thus give the plants MUCH less space under the light than they would ideally have. Defoliation only works in very tightly packed indoor grows.

well, according to where this thread has lead, what you can do is remove those lower buds that are currently shaded, and then still bend down the branches to allow, not light to the buds you remove but instead allow more light to the leaves... the terminal or buds at the ends should then become bigger.
