Feminized seeds and Hermie plants.

Can someone please explain a bit?

Lets say there are plants grown out of feminized seeds - feminized grow. All plants are harvested with a descent yield averaging 0.8 grams per watt. How come some buds have seeds in them? Does it mean there had to be a hermie plant somewhere near?

Next question. How big of a harm could hermies do and what to do about it? Is it a real danger?

It could have been caused by a true hermie, or it could have been the fact that you let them go beyond maturity. Most will "hermie" at some point if you let them go long enough. It's a survival tactic. Unless there are a lot of seeds it's not really an issue for me. Are the seeds mature?

Not sure if they were mature, but they were kind of weird I guess. What did you mean going beyond maturity? Like vegging for 10 weeks for example?

No, like flowering beyond what the plant considers mature. As a last ditch effort to reproduce, it will self pollinate. Different phenos of the same strain will actually have different true flowering times. You won't know exactly until you've grown it. Were the seeds green or brown? If they were green they were immature. If they were brown and just a couple I would save them as they are most likely feminized, but that's just me....waste not, want not...lol

How long did you flower for?
Did you see any little yellow things on your buds that you didn't recognize ?
Like this?

Does the bloom area have outside air being circulated in?

But when does the plant consider itself mature? Do we usually harvest before that happens? I might have flowered for a bit too long?

I flowered for 9 weeks I guess, not more. Critical Kush by Barney's Farm.

I don't remember seeing those yellow things. It was such a long time ago.

But yes, outside air was circulated in. Not directly, but not filtered either. It was a beginning of summer - all plants were blooming outside.

What are you thinking?

Fans of the fem seeds dont like to admit it, but fem seeds are created by stressing the plant. So fem seeds tend to hermie. Ive tried them 3 times different strains and got a few herms each time. So I dont bother with them anymore.

They are supposed to be convenient, but that gets eliminated by the propensity to herm. The only other advantage to them are for seed sellers. You have to keep going back to them....

They are not done by stressing anything. It's a hormone response to chemical inducement.

Your opinion is noted, and rejected as false!

Dimes to dollars, your bisexual plant problems came from your grow environment!

You didn't "run" to long! It could have been outside pollen or it still could have been a nanner...

Like how many seeds and from more then one bud? I mean, you want to know where and how right?

Definitely more than one bud. Probably more than one plant too. It was still a descent yield of 0.8grams per watt. I just wanted to know the logics behind that. I think I got it now. Hermie then. I just thought hermies affect results in a bad way, but in my case I don't think it was recognizable. All plants had big healthy buds.

Hmm,,,don't remember little yellow things and lots of beans.

Either you had a true bisexual plant that threw "balls" or you had pollination from an outside source.......I trust you didn't have any males in the grow...

You can stress the plants to make fem seeds or chemical induce to get fem seeds, it really depends on who you are as the breeder and your methods. I'm growing out a crop for a friend from some fem seeds and just had the same thing happen and the breeder uses the stress method.

I think Dr.Who is maybe trying to say someone around you could have possibly had a grow and in their grow was a male or hermie that threw pollen off and was attracted to your crop.

I had an occasion where one of my timers stopped working resulting in one of the lamp not switching off when it had to. Not sure if it could happen from something like this when it only happened once in flowering, but instead of 12 hours lof light for that day there probably was 36 hours of it in a row.

Could this kind of situation cause herming?

That could of been it or anything with the environment really. High heat stress, high wind stress, not enough CO2 in the environment. That's really why I'm not a fan of the fem seeds cuz anything can make them freak out.

Interesting. I have never had a hermie, ever, from regular seeds.

Also, your term "chemical inducement" is interesting, when you deny the stress factor in feminizing plants. It supports my opinion far better than it does yours. But we have gone through this before.
