anyone who wants to donate to my daughter who is in medical need would be so welcome.
I am saving the $200 to go get her a card at cannacare, but will take me a while to save it.
even if we do get her a card, the prices at dispensaries are a friggin joke...that is why i started to grow for her. however, I ran out of my last crop,...and the other wont be ready till august...sigh.
mommy needs to learn a rotation type grow thing! the DR put her on Humira...but no luck yet. funny, the insurance company will pay thousands a month for a drug that wont work, but wont support cannabis that DOES WORK!
We can help with crop rotation approaches so you aren't out for long periods.

you are a sweetheart. OK.....bad news. well, good, yet bad. i got the 4x4x6.5 tent today from my good ol friend the UPS man. I set it up and almost had a heart attack... there is NO WAY I can stealth this beast in my apartment. OMG, its HUGE!!!! I just couldn't conceptualize in my blonde mind how big this beast really would be. I tried everywhere, but it would need its own room, which i dont have. my apartment is open concept. I have periodic people coming through my apartment as the building is for sale. sigh. just cant pull it off. damn, wish I owned my own house....

Hi Firecat!

SOOO....I was on the phone with my son discussing what we should do with the 4x4 tent. he said he will return it and get me a 4x2x6. that should fit much better. While I was on the phone with him my doorbell rang. Mr. FedEx this time. I had no idea what was being delivered...and when I opened it, it was a galaxyhydro 300 LED! after all those years of being santa to my son, he figured it was his turn. WOW!! I put it in the tent with the mars 300 LED...can you say BRIGHT> I had to gorilla tape them together as they kept spinning around. next project, figure out a DIY stable frame for them. :-)

I'll go ahead and suggest 2 ratchet hangers per light and shorter chains. That'll keep 'em straight! :bigjoint:

How about this Mass weather. My ladys are so happy the weather flipped.
Be careful of the damned caterpillars. They are really BAD this year. I was out at dusk and could swear I could hear them munching up in the trees. They are even scaling the walls of the house.

Mom: once my crop has cured I'll send some towards you next meet up. I don't have anything high in CBD yet, though. In fact, I think it's mostly sativa. If it will help. (I had randoms for proof of concept before I start growing good genetics)

I am so sorry to hear that. I am also sorry to report my I can't honor that offer of letting you use 1/2 my tent. They all said you can't fill a 5x5 with a 480w light but it is getting pretty close to full now.

It was wonderful meeting Greg and Bosgrower yesterday, thank you guys so much! :-)
question: I find temps going up with my (2) LED's in the tent.
Can I have my lights come on for 3 hours, then off for one.... then on for 3 hours, then off for 1, etc.? instead of having them off 6 hours "straight" can i stagger it to keep temps down? would that mess up my plants grow rhythm in any way?

I have run my autos with a 6-2 schedule with no apparent problems.

Thanks :-) I actually just read this:
"There is a lot of research that suggests that cannabis plants can only process a certain amount of light per day. After that level has been reached, the plant can no longer absorb more light, and any additional light is essentially wasted. By breaking the light cycle into multiple 6 hour periods, the plant is able to rest and process the light it has received. When the lights come back on 2 hours later, the plant will be ready to process additional light, allowing you to get the most plant growth out of every minute your lights are on.

At a biological level, cannabis’s inability to grow more once it has received a certain amount of light can be attributed to the way the plant processes carbon dioxide (CO2). A majority of the mass accumulated in cannabis is associated with the amount of CO2 found inside plant cells. While under light, cannabis tries to prevent CO2from leaving its cells by cutting off transpiration. However, this prevents new CO2 from entering into the cell, blocking new growth. When the lights are turned off, and no photosynthesis is occurring, the plant is able to absorb new CO2 into its cells.

Additionally, when plants are exposed to 18 straight hours of intense light, they become stressed. Signs of stress - droopy or curled leaves - will usually appear towards the end of the light cycle. While some stress can be beneficial to plant growth, too much stress can cause harm to your plants and prevent them from reaching maximum growth potential.

Giving plants 6 hours of intense light at a time not only puts less stress on the plants, it also spread out the load on your cooling system over a longer period of time. The cooling system works the hardest when lights are on. By turning off the lights for 2 hours at a time throughout the day, your cooling system will get a break between light cycles, allowing the room to be cooled to desired temperatures before the lights come back on. With a properly sized cooling system, this benefit will be minimized as the system will be designed to handle the heat load throughout the entire light cycle.

While there are many approaches to Veg light cycles for cannabis, a 6/2 schedule allows for maximum plant growth. A 6/2 schedule allows plants to process more intense light, prevents plants from becoming stressed and puts less stress on your cooling system. It’s a win all around. Give your plants a break every 2 hours and you’ll be amazed at the results."

And not to point out the obvious (which I will), but if you use that sched in flower with a photo you will have a lot of seeds........

Theres some sttaight up false info in there.
People have had good luck with those odd schedules but to say its better overall is a stretch. Otherwise, it would simply be the norm.
Agreed- if its working, don't fix it- broken schedule might apply to certain situations(too much heat), but in general, would suggest the normal standards (18/6 veg.-12/12 flower) autos-18/6 throughout .

You could not get a photo to flower with that light schedule. It would continue to veg.
Not sure about 5/2/5/12 though. That may work. I'm sure that happens in nature with shade.
