Should have mentioned , the old leaves aren't reviving so I'll let all these new budding sites go and trim the finished buds (when it's time) can't look much worse than it already does right...

I reckon I would look at modern construction style tecniques and seal the bessa blocks before backfilling around the cellar.

Do the underground work then cover the slab with soil. Put the footings for the shed outside the cellar footprint make the cellar 500mm smaller than the shed dimensions all round for example) and tell the shed builders the shed will be dirt floor then uncover it after they are done and gone
