What % ISO are you getting at Costco? I don't have a membership, but can probably find someone who does, and ask them to grab me some...

thanks

ONe major issue I see is the material. I can't see it up close, but that looks like stems and fan leaves, NOT nice sugar trim. If you wash low quality material you will get lower quality products in return. I absolutely would not smoke that green stuff you posted.
As you guys turn me into a connoisseur, I'll probably get to that point too :) In the mean time, I work with what I've got, and try to improve on that...

I wasn't trying to be a dick about it fyi. Refining the material you start with will drastically improve the quality though. I suggest only using trim that is COVERED in trichomes. I don't use any fan leaves, or even the larger leaves that have trichomes on some of it. I ONLY use total sugar trim (and larf buds if I have any).

I've never had much luck growing, so am always scrambling for every little bit I can get, and that has meant settling for lesser quality. I can't afford to buy it... I understand exactly where you are coming from, and I can't wait to be in the same position... My grows are getting much better now (I let automation do most of the work) and my yields are improving, and my equipment is getting better as I slowly invest what little I can. Heck, for the first time ever, I got 2.5oz off a plant... for me, that's a milestone, lol

I'll get there, with a little help from my new friends here :) :bigjoint:

OK, I tested with fresh and it was not really green after a 3 minute wash. I usually only see that green on a second wash.

if yer just ingesting for cancer or an illness.. this way virtually gets all the meds........

if ya wanna smoke it ..

do "qwiso".. or.................. three minutes at freezing temps ;)..get's 80% of the meds at three minutes.
The last bit can be washed once you have a few second washes to go..As using so much IPA(a gallon to wash the material) for a small amount................ it is not worth the process.doing just one already washed batch..
Giving it a try

fresh frozen....this is not for smoking .. it's for meds only in my books..

you can do it warm if need be and put it in the sun afterwards and kill the green shit.

for smoking or dabs.that's a whole nudder animal..
I was looking back through some pictures, and figured I would share some shots of what I do.

Here is what my qwiso looks like when I scrape it.

Starting material

Here is a shot of 3 "A" grade washes on the right and then a "B" and "C" grade wash on the left.
id smoke the A grade (:

Using ISO? Warm or cold?

Thanks
as cold as you can make it...I have always tried to do my runs....in the middle of winter on the coldest night I can find.... up coming....with all my apparatus either in the deep for a couple days or outside if its colder than the deep freezer ....
cold/cold/cold and usually.... fast fast fast on my washes....
I have done a few washes in the past.... under 30 seconds on whole buds....it can be a bit wasteful but the first wash will return back to the container pretty much clear/to a slight yellowish and have had a few redish/pinkish with very mature sativa's

Everything has been in the freezer now for a couple days, and I did the filtering right in the freezer.

_oil.png

I used 4 coffee filters, and filtered three times...

I ended up with this...

_oil.png

I'm going to go put it in the veg area under the metal halide light and see if it kills the chlorophyll.

From the first filtering...

The second filtering...

and the third was clean, not a speck...

So let's wait and see if the green goes away....

On the left, just after filtering, on the right, 3 hours under my MH light (dimmed from 400 to 250w)

It is changing, more yellowish I think... It looks clearer.
I moved it closer to the light, will give it another hour or two.

you only need to filter one time with doubled up coffee filters but DONT RUSH OR PUSH THIS STAGE..dont even touch it while its filtering.
!!!!!!Replace each doubled up filter.................. every time you top up! dont keep filling filters that have been used already!!!!

ps....dont go by the tincture you see for filtering..it wasn't filtered well..(:

I only filter once, but use a multi layer filter. I also use the same filters for a whole batch. I filter the A-grade first on a clean filter and then the B and C grades after.

Looks like you are making progress. How long did you wash the material for this time? Did you use ISO this time, is so what strength?

You might consider doing a run with actual nice quality buds once you dial in the process a little more to determine how much of the green is from the type of material you are using. Doing a bud run will help you really see what kind of quality potential your process is capable of.

Nice job, keep going with the refinment and you will have some golden concentrates in no time!
