New grower needs help :(

Hey guys new grower here. Having problems with slow seedling growth and very little veg growth ( I see new leaves but it’s no where it should be ) I’m growing autos and from what I’ve seen I’m way behind on growth.

my setup consists of a 2000w led full spectrum with humidity control between 40 and 80 (pending if the light is on) with consistent 25c temps during the day and 23 during the night. I use pro mix hp soil and have h2o ph of 6.5-6.7(pending accuracy of meter). I use general hydronutrients and cal mag.

Ive tried having my first set in a small cup (germinated with a jiffy pellet) and learned the hard way about transplanting (tore some roots) and it took about 2 days to recover.

next seed I tried the same only I used a huffy pellet with a 2 gallon pot to avoid transplanting. It popped up in about 2.5-3 days withtrue leaves at about day 4. We’re going into day 6/7 and it’s pretty much stopped..

I may have over watered so I’m drying out the soil, but the plants I have look healthy (nice green color strong stem)

I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong, other growers I know have the same strains at a foot high or more by week two with all kinds of leaves. ( not stretched out )

anyone care to help please, it’s extremely discouraging checking my plants everyday and seeing nothing.

sorry for the long rant.

The pellets are designed to go straight into next pot, don't need to tear them open?
They are designed like that so there is No stress when up canning.
Once they are in a new pot only water when pot feels light to lift, use same pot size with no plant in it (dry medium) as a reference, dont water til they need it, or you will slow them down.

Thanks lime I didn’t tear the pellet open, the roots had already gone to the bottom of the cup and when I pulled it out by tipping the cup some of the soil stuck to the cup causing the tear

Ahh ok, you should invest in a few smaller pots so that roots dont attach to the sides of your solo cups.
They dont look that bad, give em some good light and a light feed ( bigger ones) and they will take off soon.

Also try not to compare your plants( atm) to others as it can be more discouraging than helpful. It takes time to learn to fine tune a grow to ideal conditions, long as plants are green and healthy is all that matters , not how long it takes, when you harvest , it will be a success, not how long it took you to get there... but more the journey! ;)

thanks again. I have more seeds coming so I’ll try the smaller pots when they arrive.
I didn’t think they looked terrible but I sure you know the growing pains and Uncertaintyof the first time grower. I’ll keep you posted on how the girls do.

Dumb question how moist should the soil be for seedlings? I get that he bigger plants like moist and dry cycles, but I keep reading that the seedlings should be damp (not wet)

Yeah the smaller they are the more they like to be damp not wet. Starting in solo cups and transplanting helps keep you from overwatering. It is hard to judge how much water they need when its a little sprout in a bigass pot. I actually weigh my solo cups when i first fill them with dirt so i know exactly how much they weigh when they are at that "moist but not dry fresh potting soil" stage and when they get back to that point, time to water again.

thanks! Appreciate the feed back!

Well it’s been a week, here’s how the girls are doing since controlling my over watering issue.

as you can see not a whole lot of vertical growth, but boy did they fill in. Hoping when I switch to flower I’ll get a little more height.

The smaller girl hasn’t taken half the time to get where the other two took me. Gives that little confidence boots that maybe just maybe in a month or two I’ll have some decent smoke

thanks for the tips guys!

Great recovery. I had a hard time figuring out watering too. How far away is your light from the tops? I had some luck getting mine to stretch by moving it farther away. They definitely stretched in flower though!

Thanks! I like to keep the light a consistent 22-24 inches away from the canopy.

I fucked myself when I bought my tent, it’s only 5’ so I really don’t have a lot of room to work with

Looking much better. Funny how sometimes just leaving them the fuck alone is exactly what they need. They are looking like they are about to start growing really fast. Branches are about to shoot off like fireworks.

My tents are also only 5' tall because they are underneath some pipes in my basement. I can still grow some monster plants, just gotta learn some training techniques!

I'm guessing your light is a blurple? They have a tendency to make your plants short and bushy. I've been told it's because of how heavily they lean towards the blue spectrum, but honestly, I have no idea if that's true haha.
