Neighbors/smell problem help?

Hi all, basically my neighbor has pulled me to one side and said he can smell a strong smell of cannabis, he’s took me inside he’s garage and I must admit it does slightly smell which worried me. We both have a 20ft x 20ft garage out the back and basically they are semi attatched to each other. I use a 4x4 tent, 6 inch rvk fan and rhino filter to match. I have no windows in the garage and my air that gets cleaned by the filter is blowing back into the same room. Is that my problem? Is there any way to completely smell proof the room so this does not happen again?

I mentioned this in another post just recently, the guy who did that, recirculated the grow air, you can still smell the stench in the place he grew and it was over 10 years ago.

And he was scrubbing with a carbon filter? I can’t see how that is possible if the filter is properly sized and connected properly. I blow the exhaust right back into the room during winter months and the only time you can smell the plants is when the tent is open.

Could be many reasons tbh. Yeh a big ass fan and filter.

This is one of the reasons I have a giggle when I see people filtering their grows and then trimming on the kitchen table having a brew and smoking a joint with no filter....

Hate to say It. Keep the tent closed as much as possible. Vent out side. Easy to install A cheap Vent from the tent. Direct exhaust. I am running A 6"hurricane W/18" filter in 4x4. I smell MJ Still. Least the neighbor is cool. Work It out and always stay civil with them.

If your already venting just run the vent out the side of the building. I vented into my house for quite a while but it still smelled enough that you could smell it at front door at other end of house. Where as if the electric went off and the fan and filter didn't run could smell it at the street. When I switched to venting to outside no smell at all unless grow room door was open for a long time.

Problem with venting in the same room is it increasingly mounts the rH. But @ high rH carbon-active filtering is reduced. also potential mold budrot cause...

Get some classic ONA and smear it inside the endpipe of the air outtake...

I said a direct vent outside. You arefiltering nothing when venting in the same space. I still suggest a cheap louvered vent on the down wind side of the garage attached to a 6" to 4" reducer from a 6" fan with at 18" of filter with full carbon. Not factory filled.

I know it may not work for you, but I use an ionizer(NOT a ozonator) with some success. It doesn't completely get rid of the smell, but it definitely tones it down about 50%, at least to me.

In response to the zippy finger salute. What is wrong with you? I would give you more negative and detrimental thought if I were on the receiving end. We have always waived and been polite with all the neighbors for the past 6 or 7 years. Prior to that we dealt with police too close to home, too often.Civility is he key. Chill and peace.

Depends on “ quality “ of neighbor ... mine is an old prune with dried up meat curtains , bad attitude , part hoarder and 2 dead husbands.

So a friendly “ fuck off “ works for her since she is the neighborhood “ Karen “.
Edit : she tried to have my car towed from my driveway once.

Get a bigger filter and fan. That’s it. None of us know your building situation, or the relationship with your neighbors. Even good relationships with neighbors can go south.

Best quick fix is get 4L bucket Ona gel and put a fan on the top of it outside the tent, best ones are tropical or apple crumble but for long term get a decent filter. GL.

Scrubbing the room should get rid of the smell so look at buying another filter.

Thanks for all the replies.my filter and Fan have only done 1 cycle before this with no problems, will most likely buy a bigger fan and filter and maybe try the ona gel.The quality of the neighbor is bad.. he knows what’s happening but since the smell has leaked into he’s garage things turned sour and has threatened to ring the police. I’m probably going to take all my equipment down and scrap this run and plan the next
