Funny u say that my mate had a heap of just bag seed(from a plant that ended up turning ) and was picking it out throwing it down bathroom sink lol ended up growing y he was away last 10 days long string of steam

Thats the same way I think, but I can understand where the popularity or appeal of this autoflower thing comes from. For someone just testing the waters or with no growing experience seems like a very easy entry into growing and getting a harvest. Getting and maintaining mothers and plants at various stages of growth is a whole other experience and the need to aquire skill and knowledge is much higher.

Autos are harder, no time to fix issues.

Sorry guys, but can really see the appeal for newbies with autos. As an introduction to growing via a decent bag of compost would get them some kind of harvest. Cannot get simpler?

Got no dog in the race. Think they have come a long way. Based on peoples love for judging books by the cover, so to speak. And appreciating images via internet media.

Im not saying Autos are bad. Ive done some autos around the yard. Great for that and also great for what @bobqp does (awesome for that,).
They have allot of positives, hell u can put one on the kitchen bench and just leave it there and ull get bud. Awesome for apartment balconies all year. Lot of advantages and they are getting better and better all the time.
But
The disadvantages are still the disadvantages.

I used to use rockwool to clone back when i first started, have ditched them not ever looking back now i just get a party cup fill with coco (use the same medium that you grow in helps reduce any shock when doin first transplant) just set and forget 100% success every time put em in the cups into a large dome and leave the dome on for 1.5 weeks and theyll have roots out the bottom of the cups.

Do you have a dome? If so you have everything you need to clone in rockwool

Nope I will in a min I'll go order 1 lol I do have some red party cups thanks for advice about the dome as well I missed that totally lol
