I can get it down that low too, sounds like a good approach!
It has served me well. No mold or mildew. Soft pliable nuggets indefinitely. Actually improve with time. Trimmed to my standards they look like this.

I'm going to try drying part my harvest on the plant and in ground if the humidity cooperates. Temps are looking good for standing cure. Will buy me some time to pass out overages and stay legal before anything is finished.

Just bounces a trespasser.

fall in New England, when all private land turns public in the minds of tourists and hunters.

no offense to you hunters out there, but most of you are dicks and have no respect for private property. I’m old school about property rights and wish we could just shoot on sight still.

Track your shot on my land, come get it, no need to waste.

park your truck way down on my property and start from there? Might not have a truck when you get back:finger:

edit: my entire property is clearly marked. I did it myself.

I’m a hunter and I agree. Property lines need to be respected.

Even ask, I will most likely say no, but my name and number are on most my signs. And you have to go around my house to get on the land unless your trespassing on the neighbors.
Just creepers here. Had 2 in my side yard last night. My vicious dog sleeps in my greenhouse dumb asses. I will extend the courtesy of putting you out of your misery after the dog latches on.

Very few honest respectful people in this world.

Replying to my own post... the potential rippers may have taught me something, had I previously been waiting to long to harvest? Results have told me possibly. I think waiting riding out the fade too long outdoors might be a mistake, when compared to indoors where everyone and their brother says “two more weeks”. I think with the conditions outdoors the harvest window is small and you can lose alot in just a few days of waiting too long. When the sharp smell is there I think it may be time to go and let the tric’s ripen up when it’s hanging. Year over year i’ve noticed that when you wait for the tric’s to amber you end up losing a ton of aroma.

We have rain next two days and I’m worried I’ll start molding. If my basement was done like it was supposed to be I’d probably have it hanging tonight.

My problem this year is that even the bracts on the ones that seem like they should be done just keep getting fatter and piling on more resin, the longer I wait.

Be careful, because there definitely is a point where the trichomes themselves will snap, If looking under a microscope, the trichs will be little stalks at first, then grow the bulbous cap then fill with compounds(cloudy) then amber out, but after a certain point the cap gets too big for the stalk and you'll see the trichs sort of bend over a bit, eventually the cap will snap right off, and thats obv. not as good as a peak harvest point.
Ill try to find you some picture examples of what Im talking about.
Not to scare anyone, because this usually is well after the point most people harvest, so most will never really encounter or notice it. Not to mention differing maturity levels on different parts of the same plant.

EDIT: Wish I had better pictures, but hopefully you get the point, if you let a plant go well past maturity the amber trichs stalk will start deteriorating and then cant support the head/cap, which falls off and eventually ends up being lost before you smoke it.

This is what I've read/seen at least. I very well could be wrong, but I think this was from some lecture from some seemingly very smart agriculturist/plant and soil scientist or some shit... Can try to find a link if anyone's interested.

harvesting outs based on trichs is silly, they react much differently from indoor grown buds ... base your decision to harvest off of what you can visually see with the naked eye ... everything else is just bro science

So I was able to find a bud that I started to dry about 9 days ago, but I put.it in a small white cardboard restraunt carry out box, and it hardened into this like rock hard nug. So dense. Smoked smooth. Broke into a big ass pile, smelled, looked, smoked nice, but was a bit zoomie bc it was a bit early. One of mah bitches (my ex)likes that shit tho, she loves the zoomie, yet admires the advanced amber too.
PS she gave me a gummy and told me it's take an hour or two to kick in, 5 mg and that was 1.75 hrs ago.
Ground control to Major Tom.
I'm so gonna ask her to get me a couple more of these....
Night all...

Whoa, as a hunter, I'd like to defend my brothers and sisters , 99% who are decent ethical people. It's always that one fucking asshole and his shitbird cousin that make us all look bad. My (large group) of friends, all have a policy, as we spend lots of time in the woods, come across MANY grows, and our agreement is always, if it ain't yours, don't touch it. We hope that karma comes back and our cameras and stands don't get stolen. We don't poach, steal, or abuse the forest. In fact we hold it in the highest regard.
I'm sorry you had this experience. Please don't let one jerk reflect the characteristic of an entire group.
Thanks for hearing me out.

May have misunderstood... wasnt telling anyone to harvest on trics, I just showed the picture for the deterioration on the stalk in the 2nd to last picture from the right under the amber section.

The only reason I bring it up was because he said they keep getting bigger the longer I wait, and was just pointing out that there def is a point where its not such a good thing to wait that long... but also 99% of people dont even let plants go that long.

I agree with the harvest by naked eye though... for sure, I would say learn to do that from the jump and you'll be 10x the grower than one who uses the loupe.
But I dont agree with trichomes reacting much differently from outs/ins or sun/lights Im assuming? TBH That sounds like the bro science to me, and now I've got to find that video and hope its the right one, it is worth the watch for sure, hopefully someone will get some knowledge out of it at least.

Not sure if this is the video or not, I dont have time to go through it and check but I only have 3 cannabis related youtube videos on my playlists and I believe it was one of them that included it, out of those 3 this seems like the most likely to be talking about trichomes in late stages.

Ill try to find out for you tomorrow, if I have time. :peace:

I bounce DOZENS a year. Most are assholes. This has nothing to do with weed, its about personal property rights and respecting them. Hunters just don't. I've had them argue with me over using my land "I used to hunt here before you owned it" You mean when a grandmother owned it and had no idea you were trespassing every fall?

Sorry, but no, every hunter I see tells me its "just a couple bad ones", it's like cat owners. I'm guessing the percent of hunters who are respectful is maybe 50%. That leaves a lot of room for idiots who ruin your image. I don't know anyone who doesn't hunt who likes hunters, I'm not trying to be a dick but thats the truth. You guys have put yourself at used car salesmen levels. (As a former cars salesman, realtor and cold caller, I know about being hated for my profession lol).

I am FOR HUNTING, because we need it and I eat meat too. I'm just so sick of people from out of state who see woods and figure it'd be a great place to hunt. Living on the border of 3 states makes it tough. Most of the people I have issues with are from NY. The guy yesterday was from CT and knows the river runs through our property, drove past dozens of signs and buildings right down to the river. Then tried to convince me to let him.

That's a typical situation for me, and thats why I don't have patience for these fools. EDIT: And to be fair, every hunter I know personally I respect and would let hunt on my land. There is one that does actually.

stealthfader and dunphy, thanks for the input. Compounding my dilemma is that I’m growing both for bud and hash, which may have different optimal harvest times. I think I may do a gradual harvest and take the ends off the plumpest colas soon for flower, and let the remainder age on the plants a bit longer before taking it for hash.

I was thinking that this morning. I wanted to pull but bad weather and my basement wasn't ready. Basement will be done this afternoon and rain held off a day... I think God or MN (pic your fav) is telling me to get them inside today. I've caught two TINY pieces of bud rot, with prob lost me a gram dried so far, I want to get it in before I find much more.

Welp, I did it. Will move to basement this afternoon when the guys done, but excited! I have a lot more control over the environment down in the basement but 5 hours in the upstairs won’t hurt I don’t think. Have a fan passively blowing air around the room and shut the heat vents in there as well.
