Let's talk about guns. . . . . .

Get ready for the "They're going to take your guns" garbage again. In reality nobody is going to be taking anyone's guns. But wait for the gun manufacturers and the paid off NRA to start their propaganda campaign so they can increase gun sales and make more profit.

I laugh when I remember when Obama was going to take everyone's guns and and you couldn't buy ammo because it was all sold out. People hoarding and buying as many guns as fast as they could.

But there is nothing wrong with some regulation to keep guns out of the hands of people that shouldn't have them. In fact the line in the 2nd Amendment that is often ignored is "A well regulated militia". Regulated is right there in the 2nd Amendment yet people act as if regulation is infringing upon their Constitutional rights even though the part of the Constitution that gives people the right to bear arms includes regulation.

I'm not anti-gun or pro gun. Just a responsible, informed gun owner.

There wasn't supposed to be a standing army, instead it was supposed to be a citizen militia. While a militia, when called into service may have been intended to be well regulated, that doesn't mean citizens bearing arms when not called into service was supposed to be regulated. Two different things.

You serious with the sorry assed “well regulated” argument? It’s laughable at best, and extremely intellectually dishonest. Use the word like they did in the 1700’s, they meant well trained. Just read it with the definition you want to use, and it sounds stupid. A restrained militia, being necessary for the freedom of the state...
Read it with the definition used at the time, and it makes sense. A well trained militia, being necessary...
Makes sense now, and it’s pretty much undebatable what the founding fathers intention was.

well a bunch of them just stormed the US Capitol and committed sedition....thankfully DC doesn't allow firearms. It would have been a bloodbath...
One man’s sedition is another’s patriotism. The crown called the founding fathers treasonous. When government overreaches, we’re constitutionally bound to rein it in. Both sides have been pulling completely illegal, unconstitutional bullshit for generations. Some people are fed up with corruption and they’re willing to throw in their buck oh five.

If the MAGA's show up next time with weapons, they will only fuel the anti-gun sentiment

many MAGAs think of themselves as a militia......
Are you familiar with Heller v DC? Scotus backed up and clarified 2A, the people are the militia, that was about 15 years ago. So magas, antifa commies, leftist Karens, and right wing cousin bangers...all the militia. And that’s why we’ve never been invaded by anything but harmful ideologies, much more so recently.

our Nations Capitol was just overrun by seditionists terrorists trying to disrupt the operation of our government. where was the militia stopping them?....MAGA terrorists killed a police officer

The framers were scared of a large federal standing army. Each free white male was required to own a gun and muster with their local militia. The 2nd Amendment was included in the bill of rights because the states were not going to sign without it. It was all about what it said, preventing congress from disarming the states. Madison and Co talked about what it meant. There is no real debate about it. It was 2008 before SCOTUS ruled it meant that individuals had a right to own guns. (after a 25-30 year PR campaign)
