"Biden White House Sandbags Staffers, Sidelines Dozens for Pot Use"

so federal laws don't apply to federal jobs?

president harris will fix it all in 2024.
The way I read it, the staffers were lied to; told that the issues would be disregarded, only to have that decision later reversed. Apparently the white house has the ability to modify these policies, so that the past marijuana use in the legal states does not have to be an issue. Unfortunately they decided to make it an issue.

My thought is that many jobs where people drive for a living, they have to get tested for cannabis if they're ever in an accident and running a nation is slightly harder than driving, therefore I accept it as a requirement of professionalism. I may think it's nerdy and know that realistically these people can probably smoke weed on their own time without it affecting their work, but I'm not going to try and push what I like on everyone, because I know the right thing is to favor the bigger picture.
This is about past use, not current use, so your point is mute.

So all democrats tell the truth? You folks are either really young, or really sold on the bullshit. All I said was "All politicians lie...", If you don't see BOTH side fucking every time they can, you are BLIND.. Get me banned. Who cares I've been growing weed for over twenty years with no help from you or anyone on this forum.

Five White House staffers have been fired because of their past use of drugs, including marijuana, press secretary Jen Psaki said on Friday.

Marijuana has become a delicate issue for President Joe Biden’s administration because 15 states and Washington, D.C., allow for recreational usage, despite a federal prohibition. The administration has tried not to automatically penalize potential staffers for legal behavior in their communities by developing a more flexible policy, Psaki said in a statement to The Associated Press.

“In an effort to ensure that more people have an opportunity to serve the public, we worked in coordination with the security service to ensure that more people have the opportunity to serve than would not have in the past with the same level of recent drug use,” Psaki said. “While we will not get into individual cases, there were additional factors at play in many instances for the small number of individuals who were terminated.”

Hundreds of aides in the 2-month-old Biden administration have cleared the suitability review by career staffers handling security issues. The White House has said there can be multiple factors for dismissals, including hard drug use. The marijuana policy has become less stringent under the Biden administration, allowing for up to 15 past uses in a year among White House staffers.

The broader federal government has also become somewhat more lenient, with the Office of Personnel Management releasing a memo that says a person should not be deemed unfit merely because of past marijuana usage. The seriousness of the use and the nature of the position will also be factors in judging new hires.

Security and suitability reviews have been an issue for past administrations. At least 25 clearance denials were overturned by President Donald Trump’s administration, where people faced possible disqualification because of foreign influence, conflicts of interest, concerning personal conduct, financial problems, drug use and criminal conduct.

*Moot, but technically speaking, all drug use is past use unless you're literally smoking while they're asking you the question.
like your point about driving a truck and getting in an accident. if you test positive for cannabis, you lose with the DOT. even if you weren't high at the time.

Thank you, but I'm not a purist, and mute is perfectly acceptable in this scenario..

I guess. It seems to me that they were mostly fired for telling the truth though. Sure they broke the federal law in the past by inhaling, but the white house had the legal authority to turn a blind eye to this. I guess it comes down to the reality that the white house thinks that people who have smoked weed must think wrong.

yeah, "more to the story", that's what I decided after reading the Raw News story.

@PJ Diaz , Totally with you about the overall issue -- that firing people for prior use of MJ is not only dumb but a poor screening tool to identify high quality candidates. Also, them telling us they were fired "in the interest of national security" for reporting they had used it in the past is is a flat out lie, even it the firing is for a different and justified reason, which we'll never know.

Overall, I'm most bothered by these firings because it biases the hiring process to older people.

Did anyone here about joe calling Kamala the president. Just wondering how he’s in office if he doesn’t even know he’s the President well enough not to accidentally call someone else the president??
joe knows windmills don't cause cancer. and that you cant' get rid of the national debt by printing more money.

and his inauguration speech from memory was more coherent and well thought out than any gibberish from IQ 78.

He does have a life-long stutter, and could have easily inadvertently dropped the "vice".

I would guess Q fetish or some incel/MAGA that they found in the background check that they might not want to deal with and so just went with canning them for drug use.

Biden's making our country look weak. All the foreign leaders are watching him struggle. Putin challenged him to a debate after he called him a killer as a joke.

And it is President Harris. She's the one talking to all the foreign leader, not Joe. WTF?

They didn't say fired due to "any pot use whatsoever". I get that you are just "stirring the pot" but really, you can at least read the article before commenting on it. Not that that ever stopped a Trumper from blathering.

And for the record. Everyone knows joe is nothing but a remote control hand n head. He’s not coherent half the time. Does that mean we are fucked? No! Hilary ran the country for years n did ok. So who knows. I know I personally look at the government as armed thugs just like the courts and the cops. So I try to avoid them in every instance.
