It's actually really simple. The kid feels like a girl and it's well studied that trying to convince someone otherwise really fucks them up, much more so than simply living life as a girl. Neither path are easy, but one of them has much higher rates of suicide and other severe negatives. I don't think you understand that with the position they're in, there are only difficult choices and they're choosing the one that keep their kid sane. Sure, it makes the rednecks go insane, but those rednecks and their parents can deal with it.

I love these idiots. Reminds me of a fellow manager that I recently had a conversation with about all these companies that are going on record against the Georgia voting laws. He bemoaned their actions and said he just couldn't understand why they would do it - what do they have to gain?
