I'm with you on that. I would say for sure they have bigger fish to fry. That a shitload of man hours. Think of all the words you would have to follow.

i've heard that somewhere before... from a search-engine site that actually explained what google does. from what i remember, it's just cached data or indexing that remembers who searches for what. and the point is rather moot considering all of the other ways 'the feds' can find out what you do. subpoenas are usually needed for law enforcement to look into things like that, as they have to go through protocol. however, there are easier ways for them to get data on you by just having a grey-hat (think McGee from NCIS...haha )in their team.
if you think you want to be sneaky, read up on internet tunneling. the data from your computer is encrypted before it even gets to the ISP. works well for people that have had bandwidth-throttling issues using BT.
for real tho... a good hacker can find multiple DIFFERENT ways to sniff your packets and uncover you.. should they so desire. anyways...thats my 2cents on getting caught up in technology.

This simply isn't true.... yet. In fact, there has never been a court case where part of the evidence consisted of log files provided by Google. As of right now the only way your search history can be used against you is if your computer has been confiscated and turned over to a forensic computer expert. This has nothing to do with Google giving out your information tough; instead they see your search history via cookies/files stored locally on your PC.
As others have stated it would be next to impossible to store and organize every search term used by every IP on Google. If you even had a 60 day retention rate you'd have literally several petabyte's of data. (If not more) 60 days wouldn't even be sufficient either for proper criminal investigations, they would need years. This simply isn't possible with today's technology and google's popularity.
