I was thinking about using this container for a reservoir and then taking my submersible pump and putting it into my grow tote and using this, sealed with a pickup tube on the inside. Theory being the pressure from the pump forcing the container to pressurize and pushing solution up pick up tube and down into grow tote. Main concern being that if it works how can I cool it all efficiently without a chiller. Right now I'm putting ice in my too-small reservoir

Maaaan all that sounds doable lol trial and error is the name of the game until it’s all dialed in. I have so many upgraded plans on my next set up just due to this. I went out and picked up a chiller but it’s not needed. Before I picked up my chiller my Rez temps would hit 78 degrees and I never had root rot or any other problems but I also run botanicares water guard which could’ve helped. I picked up the chiller just cause I thought it would create even healthier plants. Part of the learning process for me. Healthy is healthy if it isn’t broke don’t fix it.

Watch the heat from your chiller @SmittyB.. I just had some bad lower leaf drop from the heat and it took me a bit to figure it out.
I know all about ice @Aapoo , it gets old real quick doesn't it?

Oh yes sir! Specially now that my res is 3× smaller than my grow tote. Came home to a nutrient solution at 87 yesterday. Frick!

Ok
It’s an active aqua I believe it was around 400 shipped and all
Ok, diy still it is. Lol. Next windfall maybe...or something. I have alot of gratitude for this site and the advice I've been given. My plant has seen hydro type gains finally so I switched to flower for lack of room. Been using the flora products and Incorporated the bloom. I read something about a flush so I'm not sure what that is and when I should do it if anybody lays eyes on this thread....

I’ve grown in soil and hydro. To me hydro has been the way to go ever since the switch. I have flushed and not flushed same strains same grow periods and noticed absolutely nothing. To each their own but if I can save on nutrients the last few weeks and not notice any weight gain, flower production taste difference. Then I’m saving my nutrients for the next go round. Also I’d like to include that I never change my Rez controller on rdwc. I only control nutrient ppm and ph by using a blu lab guardian

If you're making ice for your res @Aapoo have you discovered the opaque plastic yogurt containers yet? They never freeze and crack. I've frozen mine several hundred times and they just stretch. It was the only way I could find to make enough ice to matter to my reservoir, but I was freezing them 3 times a day each; and I had a lot of them. Glad you're getting hydro type gains; there's nothing like hydro for that. I used GH for a long time and recently switched to Jack's. I also went Bluelab Guardian like @SmittyB.. and this is my first grow with it. Not trying to brag about having one, but it let me track my plants' PPM use. I cut the nute dose in half the last 10 days on my plants (11 week flower). They were using about 50 PPM a day and then about the last 3-4 days of the 10 it went to 20 PPM a day. After the 10 days they stopped taking up PPM. They were still using water; just no PPMs. I switched to water for 3-4 days and they never took any PPM from it either. It surprised me that they stopped taking up PPM but the Guardian let me track that and learn something about my plants. Assuming your plants will respond in a similar manner, you could finish like I did. Run full or half strength nutes up to the point they stop taking up PPM and then a couple of days of water if you like. I'm smoking it a bit early now; and it's real clean. No pops or flare up when you smoke it and real white ash.

I'm not sure I've seen any opaque plastic containers. What brand of yogurt is it? IV been using all manner of plastic bottle including a gallon milk jug but mostly Powerade and Gatorade and some smaller regular size pop bottles and so far none of them have cracked on me but I left a little space in them for expansion. This is some really good knowledge you guys have put on me I love this forum for that. Some of you guys have given generous amounts of time, by the length of your posts and for that I am indebted and eternally grateful. I'll do my best to not squander it.

Blue lab guardian, eh? That's some good data sounds like something out of my price range right now but ....

If there is a lot of excess fertilizers in the weed (especially N) the joint can flare up at weird times as the elements burn off but mostly the joint "pops" a bit. Little bit of sound and a puff of light. You'll see it best at night. Plus the weed usually tastes harsh and has a darker ash.

I'm in Eastern Canada so you might not be able to get the same brand but it won't matter, all you need is the right plastic. I'm not sure of the type but I still have the containers and I'll see if there's a sign like LDPE or HDPE on it. Here's a few pics. Check out the bulge in the first one. I still have that container and it will not beak.

Well I'm not far from Canada, bout as close as you can get without being in it but yeah, although it looks somewhat familiar I don't think I've seen it... Looks like it could be some killer yogurt tho! So you pop the lid back on when you use it, after it's frozen, right? I haven't had an issue with my doings so far though. Other than work getting in the way of me putting fresh bottles in. Was doing Rdwc and that worked good until she outgrew the bucket, or so it seemed. Now I've come up on some other little red flags, so the honeymoon is over but maybe I should put that in another thread, idk yet. Peace and thanks!

No lids at all. Take them out of the freezer, put them in a 2 gallon bucket with a 1/2 gallon of water in it. The water breaks them loose from the container and then just the ice goes in the reservoir. I have a big enough opening in my top to get them through.

Yuck, sounds like a undeniable negative..no that won't do at all. I won't want it and I wouldn't be proud of it.
