Lets See Your Outside Plants

Grew a few autos outdoors for the 2nd year and these two fem auto Mazarilla by Urban Legends were the only ones worthy of note. Too far north for photos so more of these and hopefully some decent yielding hi-CBD fem autos next year with them.

Pre-trimmed them the day before and did some suntanning at the same time. Tallest is 32" on the left. Scrawny CBD girl in the middle. Tests good for lots of CBD but maybe a 1/4oz and bit once ready to go. I expect a lot more from the other girls.

Now they're just hanging around in the carport waiting for their manicures. :)

I'd be waiting another 4 -7 weeks for photos to finish here and we would for sure have a few frosts and likely a few inches of snow by then. Did that shit last year with an auto that grew as a reg but a mini DIY greenhouse and heater got me thru to almost the end of Oct whrn the wife blew the breaker and I had to harvest a little early. Almost a pound of hi-CBD bud off her tho.

About 10 days before the 'mishap'. 5' tall with huge colas all over. A clone from her is almost ready to crop inside now. A real keeper for me.

Tucked in at night when -15C and snowing. Was throwing a king sized comforter over it most nights. Sheet on the front so moisture wouldn't build up inside. 2 days to go.

WinterGirl03.JPG

Arrggghhh! Had to tie up all the side branches after one just snapped under the weight of the colas on it. The whole plant was falling forward so had to drive a 6' piece of rebar deep into the clay to tie the main stem to. Using long pipe cleaners from the dollar store. Remote temp sensor in the middle of the plant for the whole flowering period.

GG#4 Bagseed that's outside, using sandy shit dirt being fed with just rain water, while I let grasshoppers eat the shit out of the plants and caterpillars(i've been pulling them off 3x a day since I saw the first one) is going hermie, who'd of thunk it. Week 7 of flower

I ran them under these conditions just to see how far they would go with limited resources, I'm already pleased with the results just because of how much I've learned, even if I don't get any useable bud. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm guessing this shit is bud rot?, not sure first time growing outside, if anyone could lend a hand. If it is, what are my options, cut em down and dispose of them?20210914_073810.jpg

Also found this little one giving a helping hand!

I think it looks like budrot but you can Spread open a bud to get a better look. IMO if it's worse inside it's bud rot. Better to use Preventative if it's rot. At this point it's kind of too late but you can likely salvage some clean bud out of it.

I’m not seeing any big sections of bud rot @SnowyCrow_ ? Can you take pics of just what you think is rotten? The buds look pretty nice to me. Caterpillars are bad though. If you think a piece is rotten you can just pinch it in between your fingers and gently try to pull a little section of it off. The rotten stuff comes away real easy.

Here are some more pics. Basically just falls off if I touch it, pulled off what I could. Busted open a few nugs didn't look like its on the insides.

I’ve never gotten it like you have @SnowyCrow_ . Mostly it seems to start inside my buds and it’s always the fattest, nicest ones. Turns the whole nug to mush in 4-5 days.
That brown shit is bud rot, so you’ve got it. It looks like it’s in there pretty good in a few of those pics. I wonder if it’s from caterpillars?

I was referring to spreading open the bud at a brown spot. If it's clean inside then I guess it's not bud rot.

That sucks, but owell, cést la vie, this has been a great learning experience! thanks so much for yalls help, it's been a fun ride! I literally have/had no money during this grow period, so I couldn't get my hands on BT or other preventatives.

Looking over them more, I can find small dead pieces and caterpillar shit all over both plants, from top to bottom. Imma just cut them down and dispose of them. I'm at a very bad time in my life, and I simply do not have enough energy to try and save bud that might be good or not, nor am I willing to risk smoking potential mold. I'll try to cut them down in a way so I can get cool branch pictures or something.

Can say for sure, I refuse to ever grow 7-8 foot tall plants again was fun at first, but it's grown to be such a fucking pain in the ass to look them over.

We're getting close to the flip where I live in Eastern Canada. I've got 4 plants in homemade containers. They're 4 feet in diameter, 2 feet high and made from hardware cloth, and I wrapped burlap around them to keep the sun from heating them up too much. I've got some fence posts and 4 foot high cattle fence that I put up when they get a bit wider. This is the third year for me outside and I'm organic, mostly because it's easier than mixing nutes for them and cheaper. I've gotten hit by hurricanes both times that I was outside before so that's never a good way to finish them. I almost didn't bother this year just because I know that I'm gonna get smoked again BUT I'd feel pretty bad if by some miracle we didn't and everyone else got a good harvest in.
Bungee cords are a life saver in the wind.
Buds fattening despite septoria. Special Kush #1 and Incredible Bulk.

As you can see, this is why you shouldn't use tomato cages, use cattle panel for outside grows, hahaha.

I honestly had a lot of fun weaving the plants around the cage. Imma give cannabonsai a go, I want to see how far I can push manipulating the plants.
20210914_125751.jpg

For this one I had it growing horizontally along cattle panel, and pruned off the inside/bottom branches to encourage upward only growth.

I then weaved the upward growth through the panels so they'd have a strong base to grab onto for windy ass oklahoma weather.

And yes, I had to use a chainsaw to cut these down, didn't have tree loppers big enough!
