First study:

"The consistent detection of HLVd alone in all symptomatic plants from both locations and its occurrence in only a few asymptomatic plants point to an association of the disease with the stunted Cannabis. HLVd can persist in hops without symptoms, and Cannabis cultivators should take measures to minimize mechanical transmission while keeping in mind that HLVd may also be seed transmissible "

Second study:

"Only the plants that were inoculated with the infectious RNA constructs showed stunting, malformed and chlorotic leaf symptoms, and tested positive for the presence of HLVd by RT-PCR. These results confirm the occurrence of HLVd in Cannabis sativa. "

Odd the first study was posted as a means of denying the virus in marijuana because of its small sample size. That coupled with dozens of independent PhDs working in dozens of independent labs with no connection to dhn should be convincing even for anti-science individuals. You'd be grasping at straws if you're argument was that cannabis was not displaying symptoms of hplvd. However, your stance that it is not even being detected in hemp and marijuana is objectively false. Are you involved in the sale of clones?
I don't want to call you a dick but as with peer studies did you happen to click on the author? Says again Dark Heart nurseries and they write this with submission to try and fool noobs. It has no real citation from any one I will endorse or the field of excellence and is simply another spoof paper.

You understand how easy it is to submit shit online but it gained no recognition so again I ask for a proper peer study not some cannabis crap from those who sell products!

What a load of nonsense. How exactly do you think scientific research is done?
In fact, Annie has already touched on this so I'll borrow her quote
The way research works is you build on the research of others, or you are replicating the research of others or you're doing a meta-analysis or a survey of other research which isn't primary research et al.
So what are your qualifications for disqualifying the work of countless independent PhDs and professionals? Or do you just want the appearance of having knowledge on the subject without putting forth ANY of the effort.
And lastly, no one is trying to sell anything. The thread was intended to review clone sellers passing infected cuts.
Ya know...info that actually helps growers!

Hey everyone, in my readings about the dreaded hops latent viroid I read that the virus does not typically get passed onto seeds, and or there is a 10% chance it will be passed on via seed.

Does anyone know more about this and is it true? If so I’m just wondering so I can feel better about starting from seeds.

Current data claims its around 5-8% but I've only experienced it with clones. I'd say seeds are very safe at this point. However, I chose not to reverse infected cuts for future projects and just chucked em in the firepit.

So do I then we could get to the bottom of why you have spammed scientific submission sites with utter rubbish in the face of a global hemp industry that has existed for a very long time.

Should be ashamed of yourself for trying to scare growers into buying only from you!
I'm really ashamed that I opened a thread to try to help people.. I don't sell anything. I don't even live in the USA so how can I be dh staff. Silly.
Hemp has been around for a long time.. What's your point.. This has been spread inside indoor medical mj grows. Who said its affected agricultural hemp? (yet)

You're being obtuse. The first study was affiliated with phylos bioscience, not dark heart. The two studies had separate authors. I ask again - what is your skin in the game to believe you know better than dozens of companies involved in research and testing for hplvd in marijuana and hundreds of phds affiliated with these teams? This research didn't gain traction? How many labs are actively testing for HpLVd in marijuana crops in 2021? Can you provide one source that claims the research done in this area is fraudulent? RT-PCR testing is not proprietary to dark heart nurseries. You have made the claim that hpLVd has not been found in marijuana - back it up. You've chosen the wrong hill to die on.

Nevada Department of Agriculture has it listed in their systemic disease category as positively detected in marijuana. Add them to the list of dark heart co-conspirators.

I agree HpLVd is an important issue. I think tissue culture is the most promising for saving plants whose genetics you don't want to part with. I wondered why my Kosher Kush had dudded off after so many generations and the discovery of the viroid helped.

It's useful info. Please don't delete.
He actually should delete the full text and provide a fair use sample and simply link. It's the same information and honestly they did the research and deserve the clicks. The subject is valid, important and deserves all of our attention. But it would be nicer if it were free of copyright violation. That was my quibble.

Yeah. Proper etiquette would be to post a link, especially instead of copy/paste of full text. Anyway, at least a nod to the source is given up front.
