The queen is dead.

Do Americans really care this much about the British monarchy? CNN has been wall to wall coverage of this shit for 2 days.

Nah mate, everyone in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland could vote to get rid of the Monarchy, but it would make no difference if England voted to keep them. Ultimately the choice rests with England. Same with any choice we get in this awesome "Union" of ours.
So those in England get double vote like those in US rural areas?

If it's up to England alone, you are correct, it'll never happen.

He's not even allowed on Twitter..and he better not show for the Queens funeral.

No, it's all down to population. England has a much larger population than Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland though, so we can vote til the cows come home for all the difference it would make.

That's okay though, it's all democracy. The larger country should always be able to control the political outcomes of smaller countries, I hear.

Such issues of dominate ethnics groups and regions exist in many countries, including America. I live in Cape Breton Nova Scotia and some people speak Gaelic here, your piped onto the Island every tourist season.

Scotland is a country though, bud, we're just attached into a very unfair Union. It's not about ethnic groups (especially considering Scotland is a cultural ethnic group, rather than any kind of a blood ethnicity - A Nigerian who moved to Scotland as a child 15 years ago is more of a Scotsman than a person who was born in Scotland but emmigrated away as a child), it's about our will as a country being ignored. See: Brexit for one.

Since the UN charter, if Scotland wanted to succeeded from the Union in theory they could, however in recent years it can, with no national vote required, England would not invade the savage and heathen Scots! They would just rebuild Hadrian's wall...

Really? Now you see I know that's (supposed to be) the case, but every time we've approached Westminster over the past few years (with cap in hand, might I add) to request the right for a referendum on such, the UK government has told us "now is not the time." It doesn't matter that the Scottish people think now is the time for one and had shown that via public vote, apparently Westminster knows better.

Nobody said it would be easy to break up a national government, you will get opposition. We had the same issue in Quebec, there would be neverendums and if we can live with Frenchmen you can live with Englishmen!

We have our own government and we've repeatedly voted for a referendum. Each time we've been told no. This is no longer opposition, it is quite simply oppression.

And being a Scotsman, I reckon I'll take my chances with the French before the English ;)
