That soil looks like str8 mud...LOL. You are trying to grow a plant not make a mud pie. The roots are not getting enough oxygen. That wack ass dirt you used is to compact and not allowing enough aeration. Dude, go buy some potting soil and add some perlite or vermiculite. It looks like shit because of what it is growing in, plus its not gonna show sex until you change the light cycle. I would suggest doing some research. You have all you need right here on this site. Well this is our first time doing this so we aren't experts and yea our soil did look like shit so we started to mix the soil around and it looks a lot better now. But yea here's the pictures of the other one.

Seriously... Nothing from the yard. Even when you plant outdoors you should be using potting soil in the ground and not the dirt. It's not that a plant can't grow in regular dirt it's that it has nowhere near the proper drainage or air avilability or proper water retension levels or proper nutrient levels for our uses. You will see a night and day difference in growth if you transplant the little guy. Just to learn...

We all start somewhere. Don't worry, just try to limit your investment $$ until you have it all down! Read up in the Grow FAQ's section.

He's spot on here man. I really like Fox Farm soil. I mix Ocean Forest with Light Warrior at a 2:1 ratio. So, for 5 gallons of soil, you would use 53 1/3 cups of OF, and 26 2/3 cup LW.

Also, go get yourself a bag of dolomite lime for $3-6 at Home Depot. When you are mixing up your soil, add 1 tablespoon per gallon. This will serve as a source of magnesium, calcium, and help get your pH stable.

Another reason to use good dirt and not outside dirt is this: YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT'S LIVING IN THE SOIL!!! All kinds of potentially annoying and/or devestating pests, fungi, mold, or mildew. It makes no sense to put the time and effort that a crop takes unless you take the simple steps to control your environment! Keep posting and good luck.

Proof that MJ is a resilient beast! Just look at the crap its being grown in......This plant will never reach a full potential due to the dirt that is in. You need soil not dirt from any ole mud-pit my friend. its to late to transplant i think.

Why don't you go to google and seach foxfarm ocean forest and fox farm light warrior.

Read up on them. You can have them shipped directly to you, and buying soil online seems fairly safe to me...

For a cheap alternative, get the best organic top soil you can and cut it down with vermaculite and perlite. I would use them in equal parts. I.E. for one gallon of soil, 5.33 cups of each, mixed well, with a tablespoon of lime, also available at home depot.

Its not to late to transplant, and that soil is lookin much better. If your soil were sterile and had more perlite, I would add 1/2 strenght nutes and go with the flow.

Why would he add lime? That raises the PH not lowers it. Organic soil is at a Neutral PH of 7. Marijuana grows best between 5.5 an 6. Just asking because it made no snse to me.

I shop at home depot also and I use the "Jungle Growth" mixed with Perlite. I add 2-3 tablespoons of sulfur to lower the PH in the soil. The sulfur needs to be mixed very well due to the fact that sulfur is not water soluable and has to be absorbed directly through the root touching the actual pelletized sulfur. They also sell a PH meter at Home Depot that will tell you the PH of the soil. Sames goe for a water and light meter. They even have a 3 in 1.

No you have not...Period. Male plants produce flowers that put off pollen. The male pollen then pollenates the female flower (the BUD) of another plant and the bud then produces seeds. There is no such thing as a plant with seeds on it and no bud...LOL What you see are flowers before they open that i guess to you resemble seeds. Think about a sack of reggie ie Schwag, All the seeds come from in the buds. That is a female plant that had males around it. The buds got pollenated and grew seeds. That is why you pull the males so the females have no seeds in the budz. Commercial growers could care less. Seeds add weight which = More money for the grower...

I am not sure where you are getting your facts...

In soil, the perfect pH is 6.3 - 6.8. Period.

Why would he want to raise the ph? Because his run off was at like 5.2, 5.7 something like that. Its too acidic! Anything below 6 can actually stress a plant. Stress can induce males.

His soil pH is NOT 7.0 by now, watering with a acidic solution. Furthermore, as I mentioned, lime adds a great source of calcium and magnesium, and it also helps PREVENT ph fluctuation and the buildup of harmful salts that may lead to nutrient lockout.

Everything I am saying is widely known and available in many respected threads and pages in the Grow FAQ's.

How many of the non-opened flowers would there be? This plant was covered in them.

We have been cutting(removing with scissors) the male's pods so that it wouldn't pollinate our female. Does that work? Its just such a nice looking plant. It's such a shame to destroy it.
