Hello my fellow cultivators! This is my third grow and my first grow journal.

I am growing 6 strains. 5 are Green House seeds and the 6th was a free seed. I will be updating the pictures on a weekly basis.

Green House Sativa/Indica Mix B

  • 1 x White Widow Feminized
  • 1 x White Rhino Feminized
  • 1 x A.M.S (Anti Mold Strain) Feminized
  • 1 x Arjan's Haze #1 Feminized
  • 1 x Arjan's Haze #3 Feminized

DNA Genetics freebie

  • 1 x L.A. Woman Feminized - Apparently this seed produced two tap roots and when it sprouted there were two seedlings! Pictures to come.

Germination
Started Germination of 6 seeds on 09/23/09. Placed seeds in cups with pH 7 water for 12 hours and then used plate and paper towel method for 2 days until tap root emerged.

Seed Planting
Planted seeds after 3 days of germinating. Planted seed with tap root facing down. Sprayed the soil down nice and damp and then covered the seeds with cellophane to create a green house effect. Once the seeds sprouted through the soil I removed the cellophane.

Grow Medium
Fafard Professional potting mix (http://www.fafard.com/). I picked this stuff up at a local nursery because I was having a real hard time finding plain soil - all I could find was miracle grow crap. I tested this on some bag seed and I really liked the results so I am sticking with it!

Lighting
Using a T5 4 tube lamp : 3 x 6500k blue spectrum tube and 1 x 2700 orange spectrum tube. I kept the light about 10 inches from the top of the containers for the first week. Once the seedlings have reached 1 week old I lower the lights to around 5 inches from their tops.

Pictures
1. Seed Packs
2. Seeds planted and covered in cellophane

Nice, I bought two of the Green House Mix packs. So far I have only grown out one of the packs but it turned out quite well. I was a bit nervous about hermies, being my first grow from fem seed, but I had no male flowers at all. I really liked some of the strains and wasn't crazy about some of the others. The only strain that you have which I also grew is White Rhino. I won't BS you, I wasn't crazy about it. But I had a freaky pheno that grew like a haze and looked like no other GHS White Rhino pics I've seen. So that probably doesn't really tell you much. What's really important is that there were no hermies and a couple of the strains were sure winners so hopefully you find the same to be true. One of the strains from the pack I have yet to grow is Arjan's Haze #1 so I'll be interested to see how that goes for you. Also wondering what your grow medium is. Best of luck -/\/\ared

Weekly Update - 1 Week Old Seedlings

Stage:
Seedling
Age: 7 Days
Light Cycle: 24/0
Light: T5 fluoro - 5 inches from tops
Temp: 84 F
Humidity: 35%
Air Flow: Light oscillating breeze

Notes
The first seed to sprout was LA Woman followed by AMS. Next came White Rhino, Arjan's Haze 1, White Widow and finally the slowest was Arjan's Haze #3.

Once each seed sprouted I removed the cellophane over the top. I kept the lights about 10" from the tops of the sprouted plants.

Pictures

1-2) AMS - healthy little seedling

3-4) LA Woman - notice the twin seedling

5-6) Arjan's Haze #1 - kind of stretched
and leaves warped a little. I'll keep an eye on this one, seems ok though.

7-8} Arjan's Haze #3 - longest to sprout but nice and healthy.

9-10) White Widow - I am most excited about this plant, cannot wait to finally grow one for myself :joint:

11-12) White Rhino - behind other seeds size wise due to complication with seed shell not falling off. I lightly removed it after waiting a few days. Once I removed it the inner skin of the seed was still stuck to the cotedylons. I had to lightly peel it off and the seedling opened. Thought I was going to loose this plant but a little human intervention seemed to work.

13) All seedlings

14) Seedlings soaking up some light!

Hey thanks for the reply. I am glad to hear that you had a good experience with the green house seeds. This is also my first feminized grow and I am worried about them herming. I am going to clone these and start a perpetual grow - I can really only have about 6 max different mothers in my garden. So any I like will stay if any are sub-par I'll replace them with a new strain until I have 6 killer stable strains going :)

As for my grow medium, its Fafard soil. Its good plain soil and it drains well. During veg/flower I feed plants lightly every 2 waterings. I never have any nutrient burn issues, just happy green leaves :leaf:

Weekly Update - 2 Week Old Seedlings

Stage: Veg
Age: 15 Days
Light Cycle: 24/0
Light: T5 fluoro - 7 inches from tops
Temp: 79 F
Humidity: 40%
Air Flow: Light oscillating breeze

Notes
I'm really enjoying growing with some good genetics for once. The plants are growing really quick, healthy and with some solid thick stems. I fed the plants for the first time with a half strength solution around 17 days old and they took to it real nice. So far my favorites are the Arjan's Haze 3 and the White Widow. The haze is growing like a really short sativa which is awesome.
I'm reporting week 2 but the grow is currently on week 3 which I did not document with any pictures. I took clones at week 3 and when saw the clones were looking healthy I put the plants all into flower. They are about 6 nodes tall and I want to have some herb in for christmas so I decided to start flowering them.

Pictures

The plant pictures are in pairs. First picture is the front view with name label and the second picture is the top view.

Here is a picture of the clones I took on week 3. Some of the clones (white rhino) are a little small but they look like they'll make it. I've placed the clones on top of a cheap old heating blanket I have to stimulate root growth and keep it humid in there. The clones wilted a little for the first day but they are really perking up now. Hope they all root!

Stage: Flower
Age: 28 Days
Light Cycle: 12/12
Light: 400w HPS - 24 inches from tops
Temp: 85 F
Humidity: n/a
Air Flow: Fan blowing from above

Notes
A.M.S. & L.A. Woman have been flowering for two weeks today.

WW, AH3, AH1 & WR have been flowering for one week today.

All of them showed sex, that being female. Figured as much, but you can never be sure...these being my first feminized plants I wasn't sure what to expect and hope they continue to be female :P

I grabbed clones from each and the clones are all alive and well except for the top I took from the Arjan's Haze #1.

Pictures

Pictures did not come out too good with the orange light from the 400w. I'll get some better pictures when there are more buds growing, this is the boring waiting stage...

1) AMS
2) WW
3) WR - strange fat square shaped fan leaves
4) LA
5) AH1 - topped to produce 4 cola.
6) AH3
7) All flowering

Great job so far man. Im curious to see how the LA turns out.
Im glad to see the AH1 turned out normal.
You should take the pics while the lights are off to show the color better.

Dude the LA woman will take off after 2 weeks. Heres a pic of mine 4 days ago just started 12/12/. 2nd pic is a g13 white widow both from attitude seedbank.
Yeah if you look at the pictures I just posted you can see the tallest one is the LA Woman and its been flowering about 2 weeks now!

Thanks for subscribing! I am also curious to see how the LA turns out. Not much info on it from Attitude so not sure what to expect flowering & smoking :leaf:

Well today one of my white widow and one of my white rhino clones rooted! It usually takes me around 2 1/2 weeks to get my clones rooted. The only thing I did different this time is use a small heating blanket under clone tray. Not sure if it was the under heating or better genetics that made them root faster...I still have a bunch other clones I'm waiting on, they all look like they have rooted but I'll wait until the roots are visible to transplant them.

Pictures

1) Prepared the cups with the medium and wet it thoroughly
2) WW roots
3) WR roots
4) Clones transplanted

Looking great man. I'm pretty sure it was the temps that helped your clones root. I use the same rapid rooters in a floating tray for cloning and the water temp is critical. The only time I've ever had a problem is when the water was too cold, otherwise it is 100% success. Anyways great work.

Thanks man!

In this case I am going to make sure I continue to use that heat pad under the clone tray! If I could guarantee 100% clone success rate then I would never have to use mothers therefore freeing up some more space.

One thing I forgot to mention in this journal is the smell. They STINK and its a good thing but its a bad thing. I never had problems of smell with my bag seed and now I have to address it. Is it better to make a home made carbon scrubber or just buy one? I want whatever works best / quietest.

A.M.S. & L.A. Woman have been flowering for three weeks today.

WW, AH3, AH1 & WR have been flowering for two weeks today.

Plants are stretching but not too bad, the widow is about 6 inches from the top of the 400w so I'm hoping she either stops stretching or I'll have to top her...really don't want to do anything that could potentially make it hermie though. Even if she does stop stem growth I wonder how much the top bud will grow over the next 6 weeks though...worse comes to worse I can put her on the SIDE of the cooltube.

The AMS had 3 male pollen sacks on the main stem at 3 different nodes, I pinched them off and it doesn't look like there are any others but I'll keep an eye out.

Each of the plants have a distinct flower smell, the hazes smell kind of sweet and the others have a more skunky smell - mixed together its pretty strong :bigjoint:I reaaaallly need a carbon filter soon, the last addition to my grow room.

Also as you can see from the picture I am really making use of every square foot of my flowering chamber. I used to only grow 1-2 plants in there at a time but that is such a waste of space! This time around I packed in every square foot with plant material so the canopy will be 8 square feet of ganja :leaf:

My square footage is 4 length x 2 width = 8 sf. I read you need around 25w per square foot. 25 x 8 = 200w and I'm using a 400w. Thats about 55k lumens / 8 sf = 6,875 lumens per square foot. The sun is 10k lumens per sf - so the plants are getting about 68% light of what the sun puts out. I'm happy with that I guess :)

Pictures

Some bud shots, not all of them just the ones I thought were the most interesting. The hazes are really flowering slow as can be. Both of them are showing a few pistils but nothing more - they will definitely take 11-13 weeks to finish.

3) LA Woman

Looking very nice and healthy there. The stinkier the better I say.
Ah yes I love the smell, I love walking into the room! On the other hand I'm afraid that if it gets too much while flowering it will reach other parts of the house or even outside so I really want to get that smell locked down ASAP. I just need a carbon scrubber / blower combo. I'm going to connect the blower to the scrubber on one end, on the other end of the blower I want to connect a "Y" duct vent. One end of the vent connects to flower chamber and the other end of vent hangs in the air over the vegging plants beneath it.
