PBS/NPR is pretty factual and independent even if it is a bit slanted towards the left/dems sometimes...

unbiased news is only found if you search it out and compile it yourself. television is the realm mind numbing propaganda and radio has been taken over by self-serving demagogues. you can find the news in either of those places, but expect a healthy dose of spin. the internet is no better, with a million wanna-be pundits offering their views and passing them off as fact. everyone has an agenda and everyone thinks they're right.

Study history, then be discerning about the news.
Study ever aspect of history to see it from every angle possible and that will give you the foundational facts you need in order to build upon. You can't just look at a subject from one view point. Take the Fed Gov in 1850 regarding the indians. How many aspect/view points of this era are needed in order to get a well rounded grasp of that era?
And what did that era lead into and so on and so on.

Where do you begin your quest of discovery regarding history? You may start at any point but all points have a back story.

King George and the revolution- 1776? 1776 is one thing but look at all the nuances regarding every single thing that created each event.

And that goes as well for subject/events in just the past week.

PBS and NPR are gonna be about as basic as you will find. But independent is all relative. As soon as a network reports something that may contradict a conservative talking point, they are labeled "THE LIBERAL MEDIA"

How do we get an independent news station? In a free market...you would start one.
C and Ku Band sat up-links are very cheap too. Got to know how to get the best price and know where to go however. Ku is far and away better.
BlogTalkRadio and Talkshoe are also great for starting your own internet based program. Talkshoe is better. You can record anytime of day- no setting a sched.

Learn how to do 'radio' there and then, when your teeth are cut- fly your program on Ku sat. for land based stations to pull down from. You can charge a fee for the use of your program or programing.

Good thought, but thinking about it further, your news station wouldn't make it. Each person, because we are human and have reasoning minds, form our own biases and opinions. A completely "neutral" news/opinion program would be way too boring. Kind of like a mush made from carrots and peas. :)

News is a product and people won't buy it if it isn't pre-digested for them. They don't just want news, they want to know what it means. And that's where bias and perceived bias comes in. I don't see a problem with that, people aren't fooled so easily. They don't watch MSNBC and have their minds changed, they watch it because that's their bias already and they like their news to validate what they already think.

I don't really care what news organizations say "about" the news as long as they do the news. Tell us what happened, all of it, and then go ahead and interpret it all you want. The failure of news today that is colored by the left is its sins of omission. They simply do not report what is negative to this administration. Never in history have important stories simply been ignored by the media. THAT is why so many people watch FOX. They understand that there is some news that they will not get elsewhere. And whether they agree with the Fox spin or not, they want the news.

Here's some bad news for the left: this is changing. First and foremost- the media are whores. They want stories. As long as Obama "was" the story, as long as his speeches seemed fresh and the hopey changey was still there, they were happy to grovel before him and ignore anything unfavorable to him (lest they be called racist). But now the glitter is gone. His speeches are dull and no-one is hopey anymore. His approval is lower than any president ever at this point in their term. Gulp! The story is rapidly becoming the FAILURE of Obama. And when a certain tipping point is reached, and there is enough blood in the water, the lefty media whores will be on his carcass like a pack of wolves.

^^^ Right, and now We The People are stuck with this guy for the next three years. I've said it from the beginning, Obama is nothing but an empty suit. It may not be obvious to the progressives among us, but is there any doubt at this point that the Emperor wears no clothes on the international stage? Obama is a laughing stock abroad and is perceived as being weak. Here at home, he's demonstrated that he has no concept of free market economics or how to run a business ... or what would make that business successful. Honestly, the guy is like a first year law student run amok. What in the world does he stand for? What are his deep rooted principles?

Hey ViRedd I siad he was an empty suit first!! (LOL!)

And you are right about the rest.

Don't we have a 'No Confidence' measure with removing someone- President included? NOT that this will ever take place or even happen but... it would be nice to see him roast a bit for what he's done thus far. Might even put a bit of fear into all our public servant.

I, for one, have zero confidence in this pos'er. (Check spelling on 'pose'er?)
