Advanced Nutrients B-52. Is it worth the price?

Now that I'm finally getting around to posting on this subject I can't find the B-52 item for sale that stated that B-52 reduces internode length. When I saw that and thought about the AN GMB three part Plus Program Bloom. They don't use it during the first 2 weeks of flowering. Why is this? Is it because they assume you want your plant to stretch/bush-out to full potential during these two weeks? I have been looking for something to keep my plants from stretching in flowering. I am wondering if I put B-52 in for the second and/or first week if it would help any.

Also I heard claims that this is the second best bloom enhancer for producing higher yield in the AN nutrient line right behind Big Bud. Is there any truth to these claims or is it just some BS some site is using to sell sell sell?

For the price it better make a huge difference in growth. At about $45/liter and with the quantities suggested to be used its the priciest nute I know of. It smells terrible as well.

Has anyone done any side by side tests with B-52 and without? If so pics and yield weight per plant would be sweet.

Some reference links.

I dont have any experience with this stuff, but it sounds just like Superthrive which I use. Superthrive costs a LOT less.

Lol. I actually asked the dude behind the counter at the hydro store what he thought about Superthrive. I asked what does it actually do, it has no nitrogen or anything else a plant needs as far as I can tell. He said, "I don't know what it does exactly. Nobody does I don't think but it has been around for ever. It works!" Kinda reminded me of a used car sales man. When I asked about the B-52 I got a dodgy similar answer. Unfortunately I picked up the B-52 a few weeks before. /sigh

I think I will be taking this B-52 back to the hydro store under the AN Performance Guarantee after reading that myth about vitamin B-1.

If you want something that will actually aid your plant and has science behind it, try out alfalfa meal/pellets. You can buy a 50 pound bag at Tractor Supply or any other agricultural store for $15, which will last you a damned long time. One cup per 10 gallons of soil. You can also make teas out of it, or foliar feed with it.

Google it and learn up on it. If you do decide to purchase it, make sure you get the type that has no additives. Its usually sold as horse feed.

FYI there's also Hygrozyme. Another B-1 supplement shrouded in secrecy. Who knows if these work or not. The Superthrive is so cheap I just figured 'why not'. Maybe try the Hygrozyme?

I use B-52 every watering during Veg, and for the first few weeks of flowering. I really like it and I think its worth the price.

I had some root bound clones that I transplanted and they were looking kind of stressed till I fed them the B-52. After a day or two they showed a significant improvement. They love that stuff. Totally worth it.

Super thrive is good too but its not even close to B-52

I just had to respond to this because some of these responses are just malarkey. Superthrive is ONLY hormones. A bunch of random ones at that. It is NOTHING like B-52. B-52 was designed to grow herbs. Just like the rest of the line of advanced nutrients. Advanced nutrients does extensive testing on indoor crops with there nutes. Im not trying to be a fanboy here but come on people. Lets get educated on this stuff already. Superthrive was Not designed for herbs.
You get what you pay for and you definately see results from this stuff.

I have been using B-52 for a few months now and love it. It is worth the money if you want success with a stench :)... yes it smells like a very strong bottle of B viatmins your mom gave you when you were a kid. I noticed a big difference when I was transplanting. I did half the transplanting w/o B-52 and the other with and there was significant difference. perky and firm. impressed. Was a great spend in my mind. I have switched from GH three part as well and tried the Jungle Juice GMB as well with good results... not alot of difference but a little and costs was way cheaper. next run I am going to try the pH perfect kit... need to read up on it more... anyone have thoughts on this? any help would be great. thanks!

how are you guys using b-52? even on the advanced site it says it should only be used as a foliar spray during veg. this is exactly how i use superthrive most of the time. and superthrive isn't ONLY hormones. the main additive is b-1 supplements. and i don't think hygrozyme has any b-1 in it. i may be wrong but it's an enzyme and wouldn't enzymes break down vitamins?

First off. Yes, the stuff does smell like someone oppened an old can of ass

I was given 10 tomato sprouts all crowded into just 2 of those little cardboard things... they're meant to hold just 1. They had been "growing" on a window for about 3 weeks. only 1 of them was showing signs of its first real leaves. I mixed about 1/4 (a bit less even) of the recomended amount of that B52 stuff and advanced nutrients PH perfect stuff. I fed them that 1 day (still in crowded cups) they looked much better. The next day I broke up the cardboard thing and took most of the dirt out and put the sprouts in small pots in rockwool cubes (lots of broken roots). Fed them that solution again and put them under T5s. I was expecting most would die. 3 days after I put them under the light the 2 weakest appear they'll die while the other 8 are all starting to show their first leaves.

Don't know if it was the B-52 but i'm gonna keep using it

I am looking at the bottle of B-52 right now and nothing is said about a foliar spray? just states application rates of 2ml through weeks 3-6 of flowering phase. I also went onto their website and cannot find where it states Foliar spray? help. thanks:bigjoint:

I use and its worth the price for me....FREE, go to their website and request a free sample and they will send it out to you. I do that with a lot of supplements. I have gotten many free samples by visiting companies websites and sending them a email telling them you are comparing supplements to see what works best for your garden. Most companies will send you out free samples. Try it, whats the worse they say, no we dont offer free samples.

B-52 and Silica Shield will keep your plants strong in adverse conditions. They are the only supplements I use now.

Peace

I can't seem to find too much difference between many of the supplements for growing...as for specially formulated for Mj, that is unnecessary selling techniques...You can use tomato food with great results...it is a plant, much like other plants...no need for specially formulated anything...

here's a copy of their veg feeding schedule.

Vegetative growth

We do not recommend applying any nutrients until your plants have developed 3-4 sets of new or true leafs if grown from clones or seedlings. Also, if growing in amended soil, do not apply any nutrients until the plants have used up all the nutrients supplied by the soil. Having said that, here is what we suggest:

Until they develop 3 or 4 sets of new (clones)/true (seedlings) leaves feed them only water. You can foliar spray them with Jumpstart, use application rate suggested on the bottle or 1/4 strength B-52 (1 mL/liter) until then. You can also add 1/4 strength applications of Piranha, Tarantula or Voodoo Juice, to the water that you will use in the root zone.

Week 1 – 300 ppm: Sensi Grow A/B apply @ 1ml/L of part A and part B (2ml in total) + Foliar spray B-52 once per week at the 2ml/L application rate.
Week 2 – 600 ppm: Sensi Grow A/B apply @ 2ml/L + Foliar spray B-52.
Week 3 – 900 ppm: Sensi Grow A/B apply @ 3ml/L + Voodoo Juice at the rate of 2ml/L + Foliar spray B-52.
Week 4 – 1200 ppm: Sensi Grow A/B apply @ 4ml/L + Voodoo Juice + Foliar spray B-52.

If it is necessary to veg your plants for a longer period of time then 4 weeks, continue with the 4[SUP]th[/SUP] week application rates. Apply voodoo juice for up to three week in a row, to properly inoculate the root zone, after which, you can discontinue the application. Also, we recommend growing your plants in veg until they are about 1/3 of their final finish height, since the plants will put on anywhere from 1/2 - 2/3 more vertical growth in the bloom stage. That is, if you want to finish your plants at 6 feet tall, veg until they are 2 foot.

for flower they do recommend it for week 3 until you flush. i've just never used it as a root zone application after i tried a few runs without it and never saw a difference. besides the fact that it's pretty much common knowledge now that b-1 vitamins really don't aid a plant in the root zone. i've seen a bunch of evidence about it on the forums and the internet. plus there are much cheaper ways to get fulvic and humic acid supplements. besides that all b-52 has is a ton of potassium and vitamin b.

May it be a gimmick? Maybe. But I'm seeing some good results after adding it up to my nutes mix. Next on my list is testing out voodoo juice, which cost waaaay more than B-52 :wall:

Where are you finding this? Everything I can find on their website says "Use 2 mL per Liter during weeks 3 through 6 of your flowering phase, and during all weeks of vegetative growth." Same as what I've been doing.

To the original question, IMHO B-52 is absolutely worth it.

Regarding scooby's earlier question about enzymes, they don't break down everything they come into contact with. Enzymes simply facilitate chemical reactions without being used up in the process. Each enzyme does a particular thing. For example, humans can't digest wood because we lack the enzymes necessary to do so, whereas termites have bacteria and such in their digestive tract that produce those necessary enzymes. So different enzymes do different things. The enzymes in question do not (at least afaik) break down vitamins.

call advanced nutrients support line and ask to talk to one of their nutrient experts. anyone is fine...they're all gonna say the same thing. then ask them to send you a feeding schedule. they tell you to ONLY use b-52 as a foliar spray in veg and for the mid-flower in the root zone.

I just tested your theory, and you're wrong. The guy just said "oh no, we always say to use it in the root zone. It makes a great foliar spray, sure, but we wouldn't tell anyone to only use it in a foliar spray." I'm probably paraphrasing a little there, but that's what he said.

well, that's funny cause below i have "snipped" a copy of the email from their staff which states that you only use it in veg as a foliar spray. now this seems to make sense to me being that B-52 is mainly sold as a vitamin B-1 supplement. google "vitamin b-1 for plants" and you will see at least 10 links for scholarly works on the "myth" of vitamin B-1. it has been proven that numerous times that B-1 has no positive effects on plant growth when used in the root zone. so you talked to a guy and i got a generic email that say different things. i'm inclined to go with the email and what i already know about vitamin B-1. if you like it and think that it works then go for it...i'll trust the professionals though.
