Mike's Loft Build 2012

hey man my new setup will be loft style just like this. my biggest worry is where to vent heat out to? can u give more details on that part??

I have been with her for 3 years now and my do i love her? Yes I love my loft more than anything, thats what the wife recons anyway:smile: i spend more time in my loft than my front room, infact the wife has just bought me a hammuck, so i can spend more time with my girls.

Soz for the lack of updates - spent the last week being ill which has slowed things down a bit. It is all up and running now. The plants went in last Thursday, got a few pics below.

For the venting - I have a 6'RVK venting straight out to a sofet under a roof tile. Using the 6' Insulated ducting aswell.... it is soooo quiet. The temps inside the room have been near on perfect and I know it will be controllable once the hot temps of summer start hitting :)

Hey Mike, that loft is easier to cool because there a peak and heat rises and can be vented away. I love your set up, I use a similar type radiant heat barrier insulation in all my boxes. Very efficient set up, hats off to sir....rw

Cheers for popping in and looking / comments etc. Will answer your questions :)

- Dimensions are 4m Length - Over 2m Width and over 2m Height -- Its around the 33 sq m mark
- The whole of the inside is going to be lined with BnQ foil insulation on top of the board. Will give me that + board + 200mm of normal loft insulation.
- Gonna be 2 x 8 Pot Wilma's in there under 2 x 600w. Going for 1 to start and then start the other off at 4 weeks in so I can harvest monthly - also gives me a chance to see what the climate will be like in there for the first 4 weeks.
- 6' Rhino Filter + RVK fan for exhaust (venting into sofet) and 5' RVK for intake being sucked in from a large airing cupboard below the loft (which is also gonna be my veg room).
- Going to be running pipe from the grow room to the gutter for emptying Res's
- 100L Water Storage Res will be up there aswell.

Unfortunately I cannot get a tap up there but luckily I have a Bathroom close to the loft hatch so im gonna pump water up there into the 100L Storage Tank when I need to :)

Just literally finished a harvest of Original Amnesia at my old place.... a nice 13oz - pics below :) For this new loft grow, I already have Mothers and Clones ready of Big Bomb and Fruity Chronic Juice.

Did you get 13oz (dry) from those pics? what size was that tent?
Got some good old fat colas on them!

good luck with the loft grow!
I am trying to do something similar myself although put a vertical system in as I really want to try and see if i can improve my yields by growing vertically.

Also, what are you covering the floor with? once that chipboard stuff gets wet, it can cause all sorts of problems (warping etc) are you gonna put a liner down?

The flooring has been waterproof treated and im using the old floor out of old tent on top of that. The old tent was 2.4(L) x 2(H) x 1.2(W) and I havent got round to weighing yet, can just tell that from previous harvests its gonna be damn close to 13oz maybe a little more :)

Gonna go a take some better pics. Will have em up in a few mins hopefully.... will get some of the exhaust :)

Here ya go, just taken these....

Beside the heat, my biggest bitch about attik grows is hauling water and then spilling it upstairs!
Prepare for it, get a nice powerfull wet-dry vac to suck up the spills, and keep it ready!

Kit looks great.

nice i have a can fan and exhaust tubes so ive seen that shit but howd you get it out of the house? is it connected to a chimney? how is it water proof and unnoticable?

All sides of my house have breathable sofets. The venting is just running out to roughly the middle and then into the sofet. Got it packed either side with insulation.

a breathable sofet is what i dont exactly get not to drag on ur thread but if its not too much trouble id love to see what this looks like on the out side, nothing that gives away your house of course just like a close up or something of a breathable sofet?

haha this is awsome. making the most out of the space you have.

if my addict was big enough, i would be doing the same thing :D

P.S: for those of you wondering.... 1 meter = roughly 3 feet

If you're in the UK, it's worth bearing in mind that the helicopters aren't allowed up between 3 a.m. and 7.a.m. My local one isn't anyway.
Also, (and I'm sure you've already thought of this), running your veg cabinet (airing cupboard) at night will help keep your night temps up in the flowering room assuming you run your extraction 24/7.
