lol, sell them while they're worth something or use them for veg. I swear they make great vegging lights. They've been working great with my veg box, keeping the node spacing tight and the canopies very even. I'm using 2 of the 130-140w (whatever they are) in place of a 415w Pioneer VIII - 8 bulb T5 setup. The leds have dropped the heat, increased penetration and even tightened the nodes up as far as I can see. No more replacing T5's in that box! Will save me 100 bucks per year alone right there lol.

do you have 2010 or they are all 2011? I don't think it's the reds causing all the issues... I even believe is all that blues... 2011 are packed with blue that at 90 angle could result too intense....
but you know what? no one has figured that out at all. Some people grew with them, some others failed the first attempt and are doing fine atm...... some people think it was off-gassing or similar from some silicone or similar within the panel.....
I personally used a v2, supplementing with small cfl's/induction/halogen and had no issues... either great results though.

I now have one of the newest 3x1 diodes stacked together version... mine is all about blue and reds no other spectrum.. nor even IR it seems... time will tell, at the mom I have some bad necrosis on some plants but I really neglected PH, so It looks like mg def, the uptake has been effected .... I don't feel like it's the light. Time will tell.

it sucks you got so many lights, especially now he is calling himself out of business :(

do you have lowered power supply for yours? Why don't try to contact him.. at least have the new power supply, whether they correct the issues or not, at least they'll make your light last longer. You could even try to trade for one or two of his newest panels before he shuts off? Some kind of a fair frank email, saying I got 7 panels would you at least give a chance before you go? If you are bothered, I don't know.

Sorry dude.

They are late 2011's. Pretty sure they are the v2's. I am bothered by big time waste and me taking so long to realize and changing every single little thing to try and make it work. I emailed mike, to see whats up.

Couldn't you use them as additional sidelighting? Surely they can at least produce something useful that way.

Possibly, but the fact that the intensity they produce is so strong, they break down plant matter, no matter the led height, so I don't know if they are beneficial to supplement with hps during flower.

Maybe some else can chime in.

from an other board:

Hey guys this is Michael from Spectra LED. For some reason my Growledhydro and SpectraLED user names got banned. Anyway I saw all the comments and thought I should clear some things up. I put the company up for sell because I figured that if there is someone out there who has the passion and capital to take this business to the next level then why not give it to someone like that? I do have some other dreams/ideas i want to pursue and thats also part of the reason. If the company doesn't sell I will still be here, I am still very passionate and committed to provideing the best led grow light panels for you guys and i am still planning and documenting a grow on here as long as i dont get banned. I will not be closing down Spectra LED if the business does not sell, your warranty's will still be honored and I have already changed the panels and went back to the 2010 models.

In regards to the problem, shit I dont know what to say.. I have never encountered this issue myself, I have gone back and forth with my manufacture my customers with the issue and still no resolve, no one knows why this is happening. I have tried to change some many things and nothing has helped, hell ask stoney. The issue seems to have only effected a few customers compared to how many panels I have sold.

The new website will only sell the original 2010 Spectra 180 (true draw will be about 240w) from the original manufacturer, 3w/3 chip, 144 led's. There will also be a section were you can custom chose your wavelengths and basically build your own panel with your own specifications.
You will be able to customize the:

Power Draw:

160w
180w
200w
220w

LED Chip:

1w
3w
3chip/3w

Lens

60*
90*
120*

Spectrum/Wavelengths:

UV
Five Blue
Two white led's
Seven Red/Orange
IR

All panels will have the Stock 144 led's and the dimensions Length 17' - Width 11' - Tall 3'

As you can see I am still very into the business and love my LED's and want to provide the very best product and options for you guys. Anyway if you guys have questions please e-mail me [email protected]

Up until the weather started to break around the 45th parallel I did use 2 x 140's with my 600 in a 4 x 4 box and the plants were happy. I kept the distance at or above 24", there were still some effects but overall the tent performed very well. Once heat started becoming a factor I shut them off and I just run the 600 alone now. I will probably use the LED's for supplemental flowering again next winter.

Problem with the 290's and 500's, they are less ideal for supplemental lighting because of their size and intensity. There's a chance they could be used in that fashion, but the environment would have to be conducive to the size and intensity of the units to be used as "supplemental".

Well, I have emailed him 4 times, with no answer.. and this is from a someone who bought 8 panels. I never want any money back or anything, just wanted to know if there was a possible DIY mod, I could do to make these chill out a bit. Its not a big deal, I can just chuck em out and move on. But other people cant take a hit like that ;-)
