dude you should punch you neighbor in the eye when the season is over.
spray and clean, without a solvent you pretty much screwed regardless of what you do, personally i would use a light alcohol solution and spray till saturated and rubbing the leaves with a rag or you fingertips and constantly wiping them on a rag you might be able to save some leaves.
of course afterward spraying with plenty of water.

looks like thompsons water seal did the job. nice beads of water on that plant. looks waterproof

cn gave all the answers..also if those leaves die so what? Just remove any leaf effected and the plant will spit out new growth, I had a slug just this season eat every leaf and fresh node site on a plant, you should see her now. Dont freak out, she looks great btw
