LOVING the new cumbers-zone! really impressed mate.... BZ looks well nice ... really gutted i've got nothing doing atm :-( .... however you're doing great bro... cab looks good and you're plants seem to love it :-) ... i'm still trying to find a suitable shed, and really struggling on my budget lol ...and then i have to set up a consumer unit for my electric, so i'm guessing its going to be months not weeks yet :-( , but you've given me a little more drive .....
Wow, thanks! Loving the props :) It's great cos I put so much time into it and it's just me one, so I do worry if things are right or not...
And I feel like the 'bad influence' now eh lmao!
Ye mate, you'll get some shit going soon don't you worry about that ;)

I need to catch my box one day, just before lights on so I can grab some decent pics. I'll try and do that this week for yall.

Sexy Cab Cumers :) Been a while since Ive been on, I just got back from tour and popped in to see how my ol friends are hangin in there. Hows shit going man? Trees look green as they could be :) Nice grow
Been a while for me too mate!
I did get a lil bored tbh but now I've upgraded my shit I feel like I've started a whole new hobby lol and it's all exciting again :)
Had these babies trained under 1 single 125w CFL, so they were scrawny little bitches when I put them in. Didn't take one day for the 600w to drag them screaming out of the stuntage LoL and now they've filled so much that they'd be too wide if they grew any more!

I counted yesterday, my BZ has 26 top cola's, 2" tall buds with one month + left on the clock. For a plant that's only 1 foot tall including the pot, I reckon that's fuckin awesome!

The new Aeroponic propogator is now up and running. Gotta say folks, I'm loving the fogginess inside it ! :)
Got three new strains germing inside the dome, inside tissue paper...

Northern Lights x Blueberry (interesting concoction)
Strawberry Cheesecake (mmmm tasty can't wait!) Chronic x Cheese
Liberty Haze (2012 cannabis cup winner!) 25% THC and only 8-10 weeks

All high grade strains :)

I weren't sure how to pop these seeds, as I've never done so for hydro systems before. Used to just pop em under the soil surface and leave them damp and they'd pop up fine in a day or two.
This time I have them inside a layer of tissue (wet) sat atop pebble filled netty pots in the aero system. So the pebbles are wet and transferring onto the tissue - that's the theory anyway lol only set it up this arvo so I'll know by tomorrow (hopefully) if it's working or not.
I'll take some pics when I can, probly when my seeds have popped and I've 'installed' them.

The new 250w Blue bulb is now working too, in the new veg space, vegging my shit out proper! My next few cycles are gonna be VERY interesting for me! :) Especially as I'm planning a new hydro setup for the main box.

That Liberty Haze sounds like a killer! 25% damn...and short flowering time at that.

Have you ever used rockwool to germ before? Just started trying it and worked out pretty well. You can use them in a hydro system too...just set them a top the pebbles far down enough so that the water just touches, then fill the sides with pebbles.

I wanted a second strain for the new cycles, but couldn't decide which one to go for and this one just kinda presented itself... I like a high THC and cbd count as well as massive yields. If I can get that with a good taste, effect and virtually zero smell then I'd be laughin' lol

I had considered the rockwool cubes just today and almost made it out the house to go buy some lol
Last second decision to stay home, roll up... and just use closed tissue instead ;) I did some tomatoes like this in the Spring so I know it works fine. Physics, botanics and chemistry all suggest that this method will work okay. Oxygen, lots of H2O/humidity, warmth and low level lighting is basically all any seed asks for...

I have used a lot of root riot cubes - usually made from bark, or peat - and they've always been successful with rooting clones and seed popping. They too can be used for hydro systems, if you have them - I ran out ages ago, hence the soil popping.

Had no idea about the tissue...here I am offering you advise :-P

Have been hearing a lot about peat and will probably give it a go after I use up the rest of these rockwool cubes. They work ok so far but if I can avoid having to worry about letting them sit out all nite in PH'd water, wouldn't mind that at all :).

LoL I'll take advice from anyone LadyJ, but I love to give it too :)

In fact, here's a little more... lol

Seeds don't need PH'd water for the germination process. The acidity level of your water defines the amount of nutrient uptake your plant can pull out of the water and the soil, and as such your seedling requires no PH'ing in order to pop :)

Why exactly are you leaving them out over night? To soak? I don't understand... I've never used rockwools before. The root riot cubes I've used, are pretty wet and stay wet for ages with just a little water..

Rockwools have a high PH so it's advised to let them soak in 5.0 PH'd water in order to avoid troubles with seedlings. Also they're carcinogenic...but not when soaked. When they're dry, they release harmful airborne carcinogens at a touch.

And the tissue really does work. You should try it out with a few random cheap seeds. Wet the tissue, place your seed on it and fold it loosely -only one fold should be sufficient so your tissue shouldn't be too big. Then place your tissue somewhere it's going to be warmer than room temp and only slightly light, not dark and not bright. In-between saucers is excellent :)
Putting it inside an airlock bag also helps, just make sure you BLOW in the bag before closing it and don't close it fully, this just acts as a humidity dome and traps the warmth.

Just out on the side would be good enough, as long as you cover them with something to avoid direct light contact while they work. Ambient light is fine.
I have a mate on here who puts his tissue into his TV cabinet and leaves it on top of the Virgin box - his shit is usually real quick cos it's proper warm in there.

Another good way of seed popping -one that I've not yet tried- is placing a seed into a glass of water over a 24-48 hr period. This cracks the seed and allows the root out, once that happens she can be transplanted easily.
If your seed sinks immediately, it's usually no good. Apparently, floaters are good :) they supposed to sink after a 12-48 hour-ish period or summin which shows that they're ready to crack/pop. Not my fave method as I'd always be worrying about drowning them!

The ole rockwool itch!
I just had shit load of that, building my new cab out of fibre glass insulation boards, which I had to cut with a bread knife pmsl I'm still itching now after two weeks!

Pics as promised. Two seeds so far have popped, only the Liberty Haze to go :)

Check out the fogg in bucket lol pretty cool and it's now got me thinking about making a DIY bigger system... but not really realistic LoL

Lol nice...have never seen anyone do that before. The fog helps keep things moist I'm assuming?

Yes totally!

It seems so far much better than the X-Stream hydro propogator, which has a revolving nozzle - spinning a jet of water on the roots. With this one, the roots are completely saturated in the mist and can therefore rely on direct feeding rather than the drizzle effect of the jet.

I'm actually tempted to buy a few more of these suckers to use as single pots for potting up into :) With this in mind, I'm looking at the FloGrow 500 systems. My decision will be based on whether or not I can fit two of them in my flower box. Not sure that just one is gonna be good enough for me.

Would love to see you do a full grow in one, that would definitely be very interesting! Did you set up the bucket yourself?

Nah, got this lil thing on eBay for £40-ish. And worth it too I think. One could probably make it quite easily if you bought the mist making thingy - I think they're about a tenner for cheap ones - but I find it a hassle having to drill holes and find bits-that-fit, especially when being in such a rush to get some babies started for my next few cycles.

The FloGrow systems are what I was considering putting into the flower box. These aero pots would be far too small to contain the root ball that will grow under the 600w HPS. Otherwise probably wouldn've been a winner!
I measured up though and the new box setup is only just too small to fit in two of them. As I want.
The box is 50cm x 80cm x 1m (up to the light). The hydro FloGrow pots are 45cm x 55cm. So basically either way round, they're only cenitmetres short of fitting :(
I'll have to devise a way to make some that will fit. LoL Actually.... thinking out loud... again! lol I believe the edges of these big pots are sort of flapped over, so I could just cut the flaps off to make them fit... hmmm

*goes off to ponder*

I know what you mean about being in a rush to get things started lol. How many liters are those pots?

Let me know if you end up cutting the flaps...and put up some pics :)

When I took these seeds out of the tissue's yesterday to plant them, they were literally 1 cm long with the seed shell still attached firmly... !
Look at them ONE day later; Root is starting to poke out the bottom already !!

IMG-20120703-00115.jpgIMG-20120703-00116.jpg

Liberty Haze is still not popped though :(
I'll give it a few more days, but I'm thinking with the growth rate of the other two, this one is prob a dud :(

But still, Strawberry Cheesecake! Woooo!

And I spose it's a good day to take a cut of Exodus Cheese to see how the new clone machine handles it....

Subbed for the Cheesecake. ;-)
Welcome, Kronik!

I shall have to have a peek at your thread when I find some time (if you have one even have one - but I'm sure you do lol) It'll be interesting to compare Cheesecakes later on with the different set ups ;)

I just had a joke.
Looking through my first thread, and noted that I had 2" growth in two weeks and was really chuffed with that hahaha
Under HPS, during stretch, I seen that kind of growth over night!
So glad I converted :) but I'll still be a CFL champion at heart LoL

No grow journal yet, sadly.. but soon! I have all the equipment set up and ready to go, I'll be rocking my first grow in just a few weeks. I'm totally excited about it. I do wish I could go ahead with it but my mom's health comes first. In the meantime I'll live vicariously through your Strawberry Cheesecake grow. lol
