Cayenne peppers!

I'm growing 3 of my own cayenne peppers. 2 in the ground and 1 in the pot, which I have to transplant here tomorrow lol. I'm stressing the hell out of them to make the most out of the Capsaicin (3rd day without water and today was 95 degrees). The first picture has about 30 peppers, give or take, growing on them which some are hidden or to small. The 2nd and 3rd peppers are right next to each other on an island. My cat is in the last one just chilling outdoors in this hot muggy weather.

Anyone here like chili peppers? I'm thinking of making some homemade cayenne pepper flakes.

thats awsome.. I cant get my plants to put out any peppers... guess its not hot enough were I live. i do have 3 bellpeppers that are doing alright and one pepperchini, but none of the hot ones seem to grow right here..

Water deprivation won't make them hotter. They like water and need it to ripen properly. Magnesium is the one thing that has been proven to increase the capsaiscin quantity in hot chiles. You may have plenty in your soil already so I wouldn't add it unless there is a good reason to believe that it is deficient.

Sulfate of potash is fantastic for ripening and overall flavour of chillis

I'm growing some bir jolokia's and naga jolokia's this season which i will make into my own chilli sauce. Cant wait hey.

Chillis love fertiliser so i fertilise mine every 2nd weekend and they love it!

Thanks guys. I heard capsaicin is produced better when the plant is stressed out due to lack of water, nutrients etc. as a defense mechanism.

my prob is exactly opposite...it's so hot now my chilis are doing ok but my bells are looking like shit. i gotta hybrid called 'Inferno'...i cut one up...put a small piece in my mouth and had to put my mouth under the faucet. it was the hottest pepper i ever tasted...but i mixed it up in tacos and it didn't seem as hot...don't know why. real tasty pepper

Mg def is rarely a problem outdoors. didn't know it had an effect on capsaicin amounts. hmmm...i'll have to look that one up. thx.

I took off a small pepper last night just to see how it was and it was about as hot as a jalapeno and that one wasn't even close to being done.. I'll give you some results

Thats wierd mate, ive had the exact opposite. We had bucket loads of rain this season and with the fertilizer i got the hottest and the most chillis ive ever had from all 4 bushes. Im the only one out of my friends that actually got ripe chillis... And hundreds of them good luck mate, always good to see others with a taste for fire lol

I heard that if you grow hot peppers in hydro that they are hotter then if you grow them in soil but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Been saving my hydro solution when i change my res and have been using it outside on my thai dragon peppers.Great results too.Hey why waste the shit ya know!

The first two pics are of the 2 smaller plants. The other 3 are of the monstrous cayenne! She's packing 30+ peppers. I'll have to count all of them in a bit and give you guys a number
