Can drops of water on your leaves cause hotspots?

No. Water droplets do not magnify the sun's rays and burn your plants. It's a myth. Even indoor w/ HID.

You water in the morning or evening because of evap during hot mid-day temps. Or you water underneath the canopy.

Drive through some Ag land and take a look around.
Really? Have you ever tried growing in 115 degree weather in the desert? Any water droplets are a big possibility of hotspots

Why do ppl keep bringing up farm crops? Corn and soybeans and shit dont grow in arid desert, that shit is in the midwest where you can spray without worrying about intense sun

Yea its not a guaranteed thing to happen, and its definitely not something to tell noobs. But, if any noobs are reading, you want to avoid water droplets on leaves as well as tin foil and mirrors around plants because they can cause hotspots.

OMG. Why do some people find joy in being assholes?

http://www.mnn.com/your-home/at-home/stories/watering-your-garden-in-the-midday-sun-can-burn-plants

http://www.livescience.com/6017-water-drops-magnify-sunlight-burn-leaves.html

http://esciencenews.com/articles/2010/01/10/can.a.drop.water.cause.sunburn.or.fire

Conclusion? Plants that have small hairs on the leaves (like cannabis) CAN hold water which can concentrate sun and cause burn spots and even spark a fire if the plant material is dry. Suck on that.

It does burn your leaves, straight and simple.
then why is my lawn so nice and green?

water on your leaves can cause powdery mildew, but they will not magically magnify the sun's rays and burn your plant. that notion is pure mental retardation and demonstrably false.

let's see your grow, hustlerboy.

i'm pretty sure every farmer who top waters their crops is laughing at the sheer ignorance and fail in this thread.
You must remember he is still in LAPD training so they must tell him to ask stupid questions to get others to trust you.

thats fucking corn?
Lol exactly. If you check out the links it says that plants with smooth waxy surfaces wont hold the drops long enuf so they dont get burnt. Its funny to say that something like water magnifying the sun is retarded. That is a well known fact and to argue it makes you look like an idiot.
