What? Thats like every revolution ever, am I not understanding the question?

back on topic....

I have a very hard time understanding how people think police can have magic powers and fly out of nowhere faster than the speed of light all the way from the police station and using psychic powers stopping bullets in their path before they hit you in the face.

I mean...I can sum it up in two sentences:

1)Bad guys have guns.
2) Police don't have magic powers.

It is really that fucking simple.

I am not talking about police, I am talking about militia or Federal troops - you know? the ones with hirarchical organization, machine guns, tanks, years of training with one another, supply lines, engineering, advanced tactics, coordination with other branches - that sort of thing. Interestingly, the folks who so desperately want to take on the U.S. army with their hunting rifles and .22's don't have an airforce.

Previous revolutions didn't much have to contend with such things.

.22's? lol...ok dude, civilian equipment is better than mil spec crap, they use crap equipment cause its from the government dude their armor is like cardboard and they use like 40 grain bullets..way better shit at fucking wal mart even..you got it backwards..they are the ones using 22's practically (223). They would be at a severe tactical disadvantage in just about any given scenario.

Oh if only we had sent buba and delbert and their friends with their superior firepower to Iraq and Afghanistan rather than the greatest military on earth, we would have had that cakewalk I heard so much about.

The Military will NEVER use force on its own citizens in order to round up all the guns. Never gonna happen, to do so would crash the dollar and government would fall apart almost instantly.

What you just said there pretty much defeats your own argument that the biggest baddest military would have no problems hunting down its own citizens. How long have we been trying to hunt them all down in Iraq? 20+ years. We haven't won it yet, and a smaller country is kicking our asses just like they kicked the Russians ass for over a decade too. Do the people of Afghanistan have superior firepower than the US Military? They don't ? Then how come its taking so long? Why do you think things would be so easy in the USA where the people have 100 times the resources , 1000 times the cash and 10 times the number of weapons than people in Afghanistan do?

Of course they will. Our military is trained to do as it is ordered. Beyond that, I assure you that they will be convinced that they are shooting outlaws or rebels and their action is in the best interest of their country. I recall an incident in Kent state that tends to prove my point.

The british? oh you mean those folks that had to crawl over here in sailboats and marched in big squares and had the same weapons that the rebels did - that british.

Name a modern armed revolution where the mismatch was even close to unorganized, poorly armed, unsuported communicationless, planless citizens vs. a million troops heavily armed with the most advanced war making capability in the history of the world.
Libya, a few months ago.

Syria, as we speak.

Egypt, a few weeks ago.

The French resistance during WWII.

Afghanistan against the Soviets, and now against the Americans.

Revolution is as much a matter of will as is it is weapons.

So Romantic, so "Red Dawn", so John Wayne. And so false. As I often say here. If the government wants your guns, unless there is no paper trail to them, you will voluntarily, begrudgingly but willingly surrender them to the nearest armory without a single shot fired and a single knock on your door..

And if there is no paper trail, no one will ever come to your home to get them. Your heart warming story about people heading to the hills to fight the bad old government thugs will never happen.

"I wore this frock coat to Washington before The War. We wore them because we belonged to the five civilized tribes. We dressed ourselves up like Abraham Lincoln.

You know, we got to see the Secretary of the Interior. And he said, "Boy, you boys sure look civilized."

He congratulated us and he gave us medals for looking so civilized.

We told him about how our land had been stolen and how our people were dying. When we finished he shook our hands and said, "endeavor to persevere!"

They stood us in a line: John Jumper, Chili McIntosh, Buffalo Hump, Jim Buckmark, and me — I am Lone Watie. They took our pictures. And the newspapers said, "Indians vow to endeavor to persevere."

We thought about for a long time. "Endeavor to persevere." And when we had thought about it long enough, we declared war on the Union."

From The Outlaw Josie Wales.

"Even when your act of resistance is doomed before the fact, sometimes you've just had enough smoke blown up your ass and you need to do something to make your point. Lone Watie's character appeals to me so strongly because his fatalism never stands in the way of his willingness to do what he sees as the right thing."

the point is, what are they trying to do NoDrama? Afghanistan is not trying to overthrow their own government and it happens to be half way across the globe. there are funamental differences between our attempting to pacify a country and our putting down a domstic insurection.

Your point escapes me here desert dude.
I read it as saying that the real driver of revolution isn't weapons but will. The sheer moral suasion of a man who'll face death to make a point ... that's what wins revolutions, not just bullets. HowmIdoin? cn

I like it. Let us all then, face death to make the point that taxes are too high and we don't want lazy people to have our money any more.

I'd like to help, but the voices just told me to check every link in my belts of .50 ... apparently there's a jam just waiting to happen in there. cn

I am all for gun reform for states.

Make them like the Arizona laws !
How foolish to not be armed in this society. I will protect my Family and others safety during the critical times where there are no other options. Waiting for law enforcement will only lead to writing a report after the fact, if still able.

It doesnt matter what you do... why make it stricter to own a weapon/gun? thats stupid and pointless.... First and for most anyone that wants to go on a mass shooting spree or any other shooting you really think most those guns are legal in first place? you think that if you make more anti gun laws itll stop shootings... Why punish the many for the few stupid.. there hundreds of thousands people own guns you dont see them all going shoot up places.. its people that kill people not guns.. no need to punish everyone else and take away there right to bear arms for the few fuck it up for everyone else. to many states are already taking away this right.. to many constitutional rights are being stripped away that were given to us. its not only a constitutional right but a god given right to bear arms and protect ones self...So it doesnt matter if you make it illegal to own a gun or not those who still wish do harm will find a way get one.. dont punish those that havent done anything wrong

BTW... If you love theses rights then petition to your congressmen or watch who you vote for they may just try and take the rights away you so much enjoy. their there to protect our rights not take them away.. remember the government, congress was created to better serve the people not other way around!

Lately, most of the guns used in mass shootings have been legal.

Tell me though, snowboarder - how do you feel about voter ID?
