There's still some real hip hop out there. It's not all that mainstream bullshit people see, you know. Check out Immortal Technique, Cunninlynguists, Jedi Mind Tricks, Tone Deff, Killah Priest, Pharoahe Monch, Gangstarr, De la Soul, Hieroglyphics, Masta Ace, Non Phixion, Sage Francis, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, The Fugees, Zion I, and a bunch of shit. There's some real shit out there, you just gotta dig. There's so much more I'm not even gonna take the time to list, but some of these peopel are lyrical masterminds pervarying all the messages of today in real ways and not his soulja boy crunk bullshit. That's what hip hop is about, sending out a message to people and getting them thinking in a way that they can relate to.

hip hop is not dead nor shall it ever be....not as long as people have creative freedom, passion and the need to express themselves....hip hop will not be found on mtv, bet or whatever mainstream media you get your music from...this is hip hop remnants...from overpaid performers who have to keep in a certain stream of music and image to get paid for doing one of the only things he or she knows....some call it selling out..others call it survival....some use it as a means to an end from a lifestyle that they want to get away from....one thing that is never dissagreed upon is that large record companies take talented artists and turn them into an image....not a performer....or they take their prepackaged cookie cutter artists and hype them through payola and bribes....real hip hop is found on mixtapes, freestyles, liveshows,...real hip hop is when its performed to the standards of the performewr not the record companies....real hip hop is when artists take a chance and try and expand their art and style.....i really dislike kanye west, i think hes an arogant prick...but his music is great....he takes chances with his craft...if it doesnt work...he doesnt go back to what worked before...he tries to achieve another level and to bring a new style and cross genres....soulja boy was hip hop in his intentions...what he became wasnt...he put out garbage people bought it, dont blame him...blame the tasteless idiots that made him a millionaire and the ability to keep a record contract and continue to put out records....like its been said..dont hate the player hate the game.......btw ...my wifes unlcle knew ice-t from way back.....that dude is sucha fuckin studio gangster...he is what is wrong with hip hop..the selling of an image..not the soul......
