I usually err on the side that represents the most hopeful perspective.

How I got so close, and low, is a mystery to me.

Great grow Fuck!

I gotta put jar pics up, but these packs are just great!

Hygrometer in jar at 11 pm yesterday when plants were placed in with 2 8 gram boveda for 50 grams in a jar...one is recommended for 14-28 grams i believe.

11pm 69% 75F

12AM 64% 72F

1 AM 64% 71F

Today at noon- 61% and 71 F

They seem to work as soon as you shut the jar... I highly recommend them.

Thank you everyone for your kind words, i have yet to taste any actual bud, don't want to ruin the golden moment yet lol...Soon...

wait, what are these boveda things you speak of? they look like foot warmers or hand warmers or something. hows they work?

Okay so if you use Boveda's, you don't have to worry about opening the jar daily to let the air in/out during curing? Does it accelerate curing time too?

Be careful with the boveda packs. If you seal bud that is >70% with a boveda, your hygrometer will read at around 62% even though the bud is nowhere near that.

Always seal the bud without the boveda first, get it to around a 62-64% baseline with normal burping then use the boveda packs.

Agreed. I want to add that, yes, you still need to burp the jars.

This allows an exchange of fresh air for the stale air that includes
that breakdown products of Chlorophyll.

The Boveda will not have any problem maintaining 62% during
periods where burping is being done.

ok im trying to wrap my head around this, SORRY :( Stonslacker when you say
  • Always seal the bud without the boveda first, get it to around a 62-64% baseline with normal burping then use the boveda packs.

So Im putting bud in my jar right, what do you mean get it to around 62-64% baseline? THEN use the boveda packs. ??? sorry if that sounds dumb.

He is saying when you jar up your buds, and you have a hygrometer in the jar, you want it to read somewhere between 61-64% humidity steady before placing the humidity packs into the jars.

The point is to not use Bovedas so much to dry buds
as to maintain humidity, which is what they are designed for.

I put mine in around 66%....seemed natural I supposed.

%62 would be best, as this would prolong the life of the Boveda.

This being said, I have not noticed any stiffening of my packs
and I jumped on them a while back now, in April.

Onward and upward,

Everyone just totally crushed and answered some great questions around the net on these boveda packs.

WE were all schooled...great class thanks guys!

Plus rep + to all i can, but seems i am limited to most lol....

All those who have helped me from the beginning and not so beginning i truly appreciate you guys, my friends.
All opinions and thoughts are always welcome, any criticism is welcome, as long as its went about with respect.:peace:

My buddy GreenGenes also says he has found that letting them truly dry to the stem snaps, he has found that letting it dry a bit more, the cholorphyl etc is released more, and then after the snap put into jars, burped, then similar to everyone else's suggestion....GG i paraphrased so correct me if im wrong brother.:joint:

What temp and humidity do you guys dry at and for how long? I've read differing opinions but i definately dryed my last lot too quickly so i'm trying to dry this latest batch a lot slower but as i had a bit of rot at the end i don't want that to get a hold again.
I'm currently at 64 degrees and 50% rh in my cupboard at the moment.

From what i been gathering asking a million people, you want the humidity 50-65%, 70 is pushing it a little, Temps also important at around 68-75 sound like a medium most seem to agree, on.... i asked a bunch of members got plenty diff answers obviously but the main thing is cool dark place, not low humidity, and not to hot.

Some say wait till stem snap, others say when its playable but the outside bud is dry they can be jarred...its all about getting the chlorophyll out and not trapped inside by any moisture, to get the best aroma out of the flowers.

With this being my first chop of this harvest and having time, the stems still have not cracked, inside still moist, thanks to SS took out bovedas, real reading was about 70% RH, So i threw them in a paper bag and they are slowly drying much better, waiting for the stems to snap...hard because i snipped a lot stems off by now, all nug, but ill sacrafice a couple and deflower them and bend snap stem. Thinking tomorrow morning will be perfect for the jars.

I jumped the gun being a newr excited grower and wanting to see my buds in the glass jars, take your time to dry and to the right things, BY ALL MEANS DO IT THE WAY THAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU, but my method is messaging people i trust, taking that info in and making and educated discussion that sounds the most reasonable.

AND use them bovedas after you get to the cure zone and after a few burps i also gathered from friends pals and the google, they work more to take out moisture, so placing them in ASAP is a waste, you still are burping, as JD said the air IS technically 62% ish but the insides of the buds are not...yet...

FJG

P.s. If you are just personal and starting your growing, it seems the best bud is cured after a month or two, so its a hard debate when you need bud to smoke but want that dank taste......

Anything below 55%RH and it will be too dry to cure. Keep that in mind. All your other info seems correct. Just my two pesos.
