Budmasterflash DIY Micro Scubber

So I'm making this DIY because I was overwhelmed after making a post in the 600 Club thread.
I got so many requests for me to make and ship to people all over that I cant keep up.
Most of the things needed can be got from the dollor store J
I'm willing to still make and ship for the non DIY people out there but it does take me time to build and will be setting up a paypal account for hassle free payment and shipping.
So here it is the Budmasterflash DIY MICRO SCRUBBER
List of parts

HOW TO
Take the 2-4 inch square wood and find the center

Take 1 and cut out the center with 3 inch hole saw and save the the center part for the next step. With the 2 inch hole saw cut out the center of the part u saved and again save the center of that. Take the other 4 inch square and cut the center out of it using the 3 ¼ inch hole saw

Take your pen holder and some charcoal screen and line the inside, This holds the carbon in.

Get the 2 inch center, plastic mesh, charcoal screen and fishing line. Wrap the plastic mesh around the 2 inch center and trim, then stitch the mesh into a tube and insert the 2 inch center into 1 end and glue it. Wrap that in charcoal screen and tape it along seam. This acts as the air chamber.

Get the 4 inch square with the 3 inch hole and 2 strips of charcoal screen and glue, glue the screen onto 1 side gluing 1 at a time and be sure to cross the mesh. Put to the side and let dry while u do the next step
IMG00751-20110305-1714.jpgIMG00755-20110305-1824.jpg
Take the pen holder, center chamber and carbon. Fill the outside space with carbon all the way to the top, be sure not to get carbon on the wrong side of the charcoal screen.
IMG00761-20110305-1847.jpgIMG00762-20110305-1855.jpg
Take the 3 inch ring and printer paper, trace the ring and cut out the paper. This acts as part of the gasket. Put the paper and 3 inch ring on top of the carbon and push down until it is flush with the top of the pen holder and your chamber
IMG00752-20110305-1749.jpgIMG00763-20110305-1856.jpg
Take the 4 inch squares, nut/bolts and 1/8 2 sided tape. make the holes for your fan and drill both at the same time that way the holes line up. On the 4 inch square with the 3 ¼ inch hole line the edges with 2 sided tape leaving the face up side with the paper on it still. Acts like a seal but makes it easy for replacing carbon.

Wire your fan with the plug end, I used an old plug off a bad toaster
IMG00758-20110305-1840.jpg
Take your 4 inch square with 3 ¼ hole, tape and bolts on. Put the pen holder in the center, line up the 4 inch square with the mesh and press it together, Go slow and don’t spill, line up your fan and then bolt it all together.

Mine works like shit! lol, I ran low on carbon and smashed up some charcoal. It is too dense for airflow so I need to scrap it.

hope u got it! should have arrived anyway
Yo BMF wassssup?! Sorry I missed your last post. It pulled some air without ducting but once I put ducting on it the airflow was virtually non-existent. Checked today and still no arrival but I will keep looking for it this week :D

cool cool, the flow is fare, i have never tride ducting with it though
Yeah my design was a bit different, but the same concept I learned from yours. I will post a pic of it next time I'm taking shots. Its just that damn charcoal, its too dense, I was too lazy to go get more carbon, I even got in my truck and everything b/c I had to drive over the charcoal a bunch of times to crush it LOL. I used a 4" inline duct fan with a cricket cage. I saw some dude make one out of a cold air intake for a car too, looked like it might be another good option for a starting point.

I didn't want to use ducting either but the design I made was bulkier than yours. I wanted to vent exactly like you did and ended up having to do it another way. Pretty sure I will be able to vent yours without ducting :D

Have a great weekend!
