Roots from first hydroponic harvest

I know they wouldn't be entirely white at the end of the cycle, but I have nothing to compare to so how does it look? Looks like a blob of slime on the picture with the flash reflecting. This one was germinated back in February, flowered for 10 weeks. It smells seriously good, edible even, like fresh vegetables or something. Haven't used bleach or similar for the past 5 weeks or so.

Thanks :)

Looks fine to me i rather see a pic of that huge plant though

This one is the Kolossus (Sannie), which I could not top because it had to keep up with the insane stretch of 5 x Liberty Haze (BF). It got pushed in the corner a bit ending up getting only a 15x15" (grow space is 4x3'). I.o.w. she's tall (46") and skinny, and she's missing a couple of branches that are harvested/drying already:

Burned a bit because the LH needs more nutes and they all eat from the same plate.

"After" removing it:

Still 5-7 days to go for these girls:

And while I'm at it, an LH bud shot (from one of the 2 good phenos out of 5...) from earlier this week and one with both Kolossus and LH:

It is possible for roots to be white when finishing. The health of the root zone is key to a successful harvest. Certain nutrients will stain the roots, and high ppm's can shut down nutrient absorption in most strains. I've noticed healthier, whiter root masses with supplemented air intake, lower ppm's, and overall cleanliness of the reservoir. Reservoir filtration is key to keep root exudates from becoming problematic.

I didn't claim that roots cannot be more white/lighter around harvest time, I just expected up front 'mine' weren't going to be white. I got a good amount of roots that made it all the way back to the rez. I'm using Roots Excelurator from H&G which does seem to slightly stain the roots (and makes Dutch Master zone a no go). My rez is always clean though, always smells fresh too. So far (with the worst summer in 200 years here) it's been easy to keep the rez cool.

Yours look awesome man. Aero-like even, yet I see a bucket... got any info posted about your setup at RIU?

Despite the burned tips - and it obviously differs per strain - compared to some charts and (claims about) high ppm/EC I read here at RIU, mine were on the low end. Peak two weeks at 1050 ppm/2.1EC.

PS. There's an Edit button in case you feel like adding something else 2 min after posting ;)

It actually is HPA aero...no solenoids or accumulators. No info yet...still dialing in the environment and co2 with my new Sentinel controller.

Sounds good Prof Xavier, especially the 'no accumulators'.

I just removed another plant (Liberty Haze) from the trays. Had to cut off the roots just below the net cup to be able to get it out.

Part of what's still to go:

The stretch is mostly from me underestimating vegging (also after 12/12 switch) on hydro, combined with a long time to get them to flower, and it being way too packed (partly because of the first excuse.. err.. reason :)) I normally don't lollypop...

Finished harvesting and opened the tubes a few days later, they were filled with roots. Only small empty spots around the sprayers and this doesn't include the yard of roots that made it back to the rez (which turned out to be mostly from the side with this this huge plant that germed 5 days earlier than the rest).

Had to chop this one (bottom of stem) out of the tube.

And finished drying, in pots and bags for a couple of days (all LH, doesn't include the Kolossus I harvested earlier, was only a little over 1 oz and is up in smoke already)

First 2-3 weeks 12/12 400watt, rest on 600watt, on 3x4 feet. End result, 16.5 oz quality weed, 3 oz of popcorn, or as we say 'fluff' which I will use for hash.

Started a new round already, will be a quickie with far less vegging, but after that I'm going to build a new 4x4 closet to use that 600watt more efficiently. Will rebuild my hydro setup as well but just with some tweaks (removing the accidental dwc and aero-wannabe factor). When I got here at RIU about 6 months ago and started reading up on hydroponics I was convinced I was going to do hpa eventually, but I'm going to continue flooding my tubes, just a lot faster.
