I have 2 plants (cheese) which have just entered week 3 of flowering. They are under a 600w hps, the light hangs around 6" from plants which i can adjust as the plants grow. The grow area is a wardrobe 63"x36"x20".I have a 9" desk fan circulating air & a vortice lineo 125 sucking the hot air out. The 2 cuttings were started on Advanced Nutrients, Mother Earth Super Tea Grow, Grandma Enggy's F-1 Fulvic Acid | Grandma Enggy's H-2 Humic Acid

10 days in veg then went into flowering. Changed feed to Sensi Bloom Two-part, Mother Earth Super Tea Bloom, Grandma Enggy's F-1 Fulvic Acid | Grandma Enggy's H-2 Humic Acid, Big Bud Bloom Booster Liquid & Overdrive (when the time is right)
They are drinkng a lot, around 16l each per week, is this normal for 3rd week of flowering?

No signs of deficiency in either of the plants at the mo, however stems on a lot of the leaves are red, any advice? apart from this everything looks ok.

I would stick to a disciplined feeding schedule and just be patient and give them love.

thanx for the advice pjboy31, currently using Advanced Nutrients - Nutrient Calculator as a guide for my feeding, i have a 20l reservoir & use sensi bloom 2 part as my base nutrient. was underfeeding for 1st 2weeks of flowering, then after looking on advanced nutrient site, i was shocked at how much i was underfeeding them. sticking to the programme. as best as i can.
 
good goin, I'd roll with Big Bud for a lickle while longer to get them pistils swellin out..

my current cheese looks around 2-3 weeks ahead of those
 
greetings time for a update.

week 3 day 3...
the ladies have been drinking a lot lately, 4l each last 3 days. Topped up the reservoir with 8l of water along with 10ml Grandma Enggy F1, 25ml Carboload, 15ml Mother Earth bloom & 20ml of Big Bud. I feel i didnt give them enough on there last feed.
Since they were 6" tall the light has been as close as possible to the plants. Started around 6" from plants then have kept them that distance by adjusting the light, currently both are around 3" from cooltube, this does not appear to be harming plants at all as i can hold my hand under the light comfortably at that distance. http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q108/pccdrom/S5030024.jpg

Inline fan is on constantly (occasionally at night time after letting the bulb cool down i turn it off for a hour or few) along with the desk fan circulating air.
The aroma is nice i like it. Still have not purchased a carbon filter! im been warned by fellow growers to purchase 1 asap. which i will, when pay day comes round.
There is resin forming all over both plants, fan leaves included. The pistils even on the lower parts of both plants are forming nicely, (hopefully into fat buds). Leaves are a nice green, No obvious deficiency signs on either of the plants apart from the red stems all over both plants, any ideas???
progress seems good, took couple pics 2day. further updates to come....

update time.
week 4 day 1...

Growth has slowed, both plants are just over 2foot, dont think the plants will grow any taller, which i am pleased abt as i can only raise the light a further 6". The plants are short but extremely bushy, how i dreamt they would be. maybe next time i will try LST for better light penertration.
Changed reservoir today fresh 20l of PH water. Added 50ml of sensi bloom A&B, 30ml Mother Earth bloom, 30ml of humic & fulvic acid, abt 10ml of carboload (all i had left) & 90ML of BIG BUD. Big bud seems to be doing its job pistils are increasing tremendously, and resin is in abundance.
Hoping the plants wil start to concentrate fully now on bud formation. The roots have completly overtaken the spreader mat & have followed the mat down into the reservoir.
Few leaves lower down both plants drooping, I am assuming this is due to bad light penertation rather than over fertilized, as leaves higher up the plants look healthy. Havent seen any sign of insects/pests, wot a relief!
Think i will stick to big bud for at least another week, then its OVERDRIVE time. cant wait.

Hi, so do you have the whole AN range? As you haven't got an ec meter, unless you have everything listed it is going to be difficult to judge what your ec levels are... which is the nutrient content of your res'.

A lot of what look like additives in the AN range have also varying amounts of NPK which are the 3 main nutrients a plant needs to grow properly. The grow micro and bloom have a varying amount to compensate for the varying amounts in the additives that are on the rest of the list.

So unless, you have everything there it is very likely that you are still undernuting your plants.
 
Also, why is the lid slightly open on your res'? Any light hitting the roots can be detrimental to the plant uptaking nutrients adequately and also cause your roots to rot. Also, algae can be caused by lights reaction with water.

i dont have all there nutes, not that rich u no. I was worried that even with the nutes i have i would be over feeding as i put them into flower when they were abt 8". Havent got any grow micro/bloom. Been relying on sensi bloom A & B, Mother Earth Tea & Big Bud. Have been giving them stated amounts of both Fulvic & Humic Acid, & last week a dose of carboload (get more soon). Will stock up on more nutes. thanks for the advice. u ever tried AN?

I have been peeping in there to make sure there is adequate drainage, dont want stagnant water in there. There isnt much of an angle for drainage, which is y u can see on the left side of the res i have tried to create a slant. Will make sure it is sealed!!
yes abt 1 week into flower i found out that i should of taken the cover off the rockwool cube, im a fool. so i cut away wot i could & left the rest. slight algae build up in pic below. How bad do you think it is?

It'll be fine. theres no real evidence to suggest that algae harms the plant or uptake of nutrients in any way (at least none that i've come across), it just looks unsightly... and it's not good to see it in your res, as that means light is getting in.

Careful with the humic acid. It's an organic nutrient and can make your roots look a bit off colour. I have most of the range, and you seem to have bought the best ones. I also use A n B... along with everything else.

I don't use humic, just the fulvic... and you might want to think about adding some B vitamins. The AN product (B52) is expensive and you have to use a lot of it, what I like to use instead is superthrive. It's only around £6 a bottle and a capful per gallon (4.5litres) is adequate to give your plants a nice dose of vitamins and hormones.

Also, overdrive by AN is a good product for after the mid flower point. You're meant to use big bud only up to the mid flower point then switch to overdrive.

Will take it easy with the humic have been warned by a another grower.
Yeah have overdrive, was thinking maybe next feed.
Was tempted to purchase B52, will look into superthrive, defo get 1 or the other. Any bad experiances with AN? any grower i speak to who use any of there range never complains.
 
None... except sensi zym. My hydro store did a side by side test, and cannazym came out on top. Sensi zym hardly performed at all.

I think the problems lie in its low shelf life... by the time it gets to the UK, the stuff is half dead.

ok, will keep that in mind on my next visit to the store. ive got some stocking up to do. want the best for my ladies. Top of the plants around 3" from light good/bad?
think i should of taken off lower branches during veg, could do with more light lower down plants.
reading thru your root development threads, very interesting.
 
3" sounds very close. What lights are you using? a 400w should be around min. 8" away. 600w around a foot... and 1000w around 18".

If you're using fluoro's then you want them as close as you can get.

600w hps. can hold my hand underneath, at that distance, plants not showin any signs of leaf burn up to now. since i put them into flower light has never been further that 6".
another grower advised have lights as near as poss from as early as poss, without burning them. ur view is?
