After fucking Paypal confirmation(8 business days)!:) about two weeks to the US east coast . Came by USPS and had somewhat discreet packaging, but it says rotterdamn/NL all over it. Now depending on who you speak with he is "improving" the panel soon, he told some growers four months and told me two months(july-august) and NO details. happy shopping.
I sent an email to them. Do you think it would be a good idea to wait? In all honesty I don't need the panels in my possession until October.

I would wait then, remember that two panels will only put out 130w of heat, so winter grows may need additional heating. He is NOT doing an all Cree xt-e model anymore and he is NOT adding any white leds either, so my best guess would be an improvement in his cooling system(heatsinks/larger fan??) to bring up the panels lm/per watt.

My concern is that he is only using 1 watt LED's and some of the other panels are using 3's and 5's. How many runs have you done with the Hans panels? I saw a comparison you did with Induction light but have you compared them to something like the California Light Works or another popular LED that uses a higher wattage LED?

I just found the Hans website and took a look at his panels. What is the overall opinion of them? You can 2 for 500 shipped to US.
If I had to do it again, I think my needs could be suited very well with even one panel.

... but I'm greedy, and like to use a big hammer when a ball peen is needed.

as far as "bias" goes, the Bonsai/Hans panel is one that RIU approves of.

Hey EH. Actually to my knowledge there are several ways of making white light LEDs. Most are conversion based utilizing metamerism or tri-stimulus values. Off-hand there is UV/Blue pumped white, UV is hard to find but no binning. Blue pumped, which can also be divided into 3 other types (YB), (RGB), and (RGBY). The only "white" LEDs I know that use a blue phosphor with a blue pump are those 10,000K+ ones, and those are blue to me. Then there's dye-based wavelength converters, not really what growers want and don't hold up long term. Of course there's RGB diodes mixed, my favorite but definitely not ready for today with their cooling and efficacy problems. There's also a way using a semiconductor (PRS-LED) to do the conversion but is beyond me, (read Schubert for an explanation). And I bet there's one or two more I just can't remember ATM. According to Schubert, there is a way to make a full spectrum LED, but no one makes it cause the efficacy is shit and makes no sense from a commercial standpoint. But shit changes everyday.

See, knee jerk reaction to white. LOL. My whole thing will always be that if you are growing with peaks, and whites are to my ass (waves+particles), why do the conversion? Just get the LED colors you want. It's harder to get mono's and mix them correctly and I bet white make for easier decisions commercially. Sort of a shortcut if you will. I do like whites actually, I'm big on their intensity, it's just the more I study them, the more confused I get trying to find out what works best, free from any commercial influences, (though monetary decisions are made by me too). So thanks EH but I think I'm hopeless :).

They are not 1 watt led's (350ma) they are 3w emitters run at (700ma) 026.jpg...........I mean apache tech uses 1w leds and it performs very well from what I've seen so don't get hung up on all that. No idea about how it compares to CLW or BD, because I've never used them. But i do like CLW products and to cover a 4x2 is gonna cost more.

I've seen UV with phosphor, and as high as nm as green with phosphor, as well as the 2 others that I have mentioned, but nothing with blue + yellow.

Blue + yellow = green :shock:

Royal Blue + phosphor will beat monochromatic color mixes watt for watt.

Both of these will run at 47w, not including drivers and fans.


6x Cree XTE blue, 24x Cree XPE red, and 6x LEDengin deep red



24x Cree XPG NW.

Cool EH and you know I always have the utmost respect for you and your knowledge, but I just want to try to clear the B+Y thing up one more time. Blue pumped yellow is based on complimentary wavelengths and there's a power ratio that needs to be maintained for it to work, so it's not straight B+Y=G in this situation. I can't cut and paste right now but I am looking at "Light Emitting Diodes" by Schubert and on page 246 in the chapter White LEDs there is a chart showing the wavelengths and power ratios necessary to create "the perception of white light", his quotes, with 2 wavelengths, so something like 440nm and 560nm will give you white, or even 486nm and 630nm. Now his example is using two diodes to create white, but it seems that blue diodes and a yellow phosphorous are very good at producing a high CRI white, (I wish I was home, I've got a spectral chart of one). The trick is the complementary colors result in tri stimulus values, so we see white. I've been using 2 to keep my moms short and healthy, (they just burnt out :(), so they're out there and not as good for growing a plant as fast as other whites, (all that blue I guess), but will maintain them. But whatever, just trying to explain myself and thanks again for the knowledge. Peace EH.

With the dimmable RGB, they are pretty tweakable, as far as creating different CCTs. You can make CW, NW and WW with just the 3 colors, but only as far as human vision goes.

I'd never speak so highly of whites if they didn't work for me as good as they did. I like them, they make my work worth doing.

I'm happy that there's other points of view and schools of thought.

If everyone thought the same and did the same thing, life would suck.

Diversity makes life interesting.

For the record, though it's no secret, I'm not doing 100% white, it's white+red. Similar to what Apache Tech is doing. They use 1w Cree, 6100k + 630nm, whereas I use 5w Cree 4000k and 2w Cree 630nm.

I'm working on an all white, just trying to determine what is the best Kelvin for veg and flowering, and Kelvins are only a representation on what we see, not the overall spectrum. Though, standard blue+phosphor Cree, 3500-4500k, somewhere in there is the number I'm after. Other LEDs, it could vary some, 3000-5000k. They aren't all the same.

Any word on Vipar's "Bridgelux" or "Epiled" parts numbers? I emailed them, and got the same answer you did, and I specifically asked for parts numbers. I don't want to ruffle his feathers too much, I asked, and got what he wants to tell, I'm leaving it at that.

I'm on 3 hours of sleep, and 20 hours of awake since I slept last. The sleep before was 4 hours.

I just got back from the gym and on my 9th beer, and I'm still wide awake. :shock:

Cool beer is very great for summer evening, but probably cannot help to insomnia.
Most of my LED panels used to be blue and red spectrum and now some 2013 lamps come with some WW LEDs. I am now trying a new strain in my garden, it is named:Haze One fem. Autoflower plant. They are very new in europe and they flower from first day. Very exciting plants, it could be harvested by the end of the eighth week, because it flowers from the very beginning. And I am unable to post pictures until harvest.

I've never ran a 400w CMH. I like the spectrum, for the most part.

Curious to see what happens.

As long as you stay within recommendations on the SGS, you'll get the best out of it. Height is very important, and reflective walls. And veg time. Feel free to contact any of the A51 crew for pointers.

I have 1/2 of a 24pk left over from Memorial Day, it was looking at me funny, so I am drinking it 8)

I have a 6-8wk strain I got from a Canadian breeder, it is 2 parts C99, 1 part Romulan.

I've grown out their Herijuana before, it finished in 9w. Under mainly white, and some red. :eyesmoke:

Hello everyone!

I'm new to growing and an wanting to start with led lights. I found this thread and wanted to ask for some advice. What do yall think of this light and its company?

I have a four by five foot room that I'm using, and I plan to Mylar the entire thing. Do than think this light will offer solid penetration and grow some dense flowers?

1) Look for finished grows online. (can you find just 1??)

2) It seems like a lot of people (not saying you Rental), 1st posters, say "Growdorm" is badass, check 'em out, blah blah blah..

3) My opinion, they look like 2010 Blackstars.

4) Email them and ask them about their "Bridgelux" and "Epistar" LEDs. I'll give you a free $600 LED light if they are able to confirm their "Epistar and Bridgelux" parts #s.
