    Yes they would . You can try lady bugs or another natural predator mite . If the infestation isn't too bad.

    You can manually remove the mites with a moistened paper towel . Or a spray of water .

    I would say to try coco it works great. As for the lights look into led eventually to cut down on the wattage. 6 hlg550 should cover that area .

    From the shape it appears to be female . Male "balls" look more like balls and females look pointy and more elongated.

    Your ok . Leaving the extra piece is for preventing it from splitting down the middle. That split is due to fast growth and should not be an issue.

    I wouldn't worry too much . Are those leaves shaded by chance . And are the lower leaves ? If the new growth is good you should be ok
