You don't have to care about Mc Adam Ellipse, it's just a measure of color difference of leds in the same batch. 2-step: Every led has almost the same color. 5-step: You can see different shades of white if you compare one led to the other. I think the plants don't care about color consistency...

You can look up bins in the datasheet, here: cxb3590. There are some bins not listed on there, but you can find them on a great comparison tool from Cree here. They even list lm/w numbers at different currents.

found it: R0 = 72V version. Guys do you think I could run 4 of them in a 2x series 2x parallel setup? I know you should never run leds in parallel as a rule of thumb, but I thought maybe the cxb's would all have similar Vf.

It's not like the lower binned 90% are a failure, they are still really good! I guess when trying to manufacture huge leds like these, there are always tiny imperfections that affect efficacy. The less imperfections, the higher the bin. And yes, I think there must be some better veros than...
