I'm try to figure out why the air stones would affect the ph. I have heard if you run co2 and air stone that it can be a problem from the co2 filtering into the water but that I've heard about it.

If I had a pump that could trickle, I'd probably give that a try for sure. I usually stay around 400 to 600ppm for the first 2 weeks of veg. Then increase 200ppm a week but never exceeding 1200ppm during flower. Not sure if that's normal but works for me.
I would like to try that, I've just never tried. Also my pump is 600watts and it was $400 so I'd hate to burn it up. Did you use Dutch buckets or hempy?
