Hydrogen Peroxide???

Hello people,
I've noticed reading about it here and there but never any real explanation as to it's benefits or how it's applied.... Any ideas????
 
Good Question - peroxide like HygroZyme contain enzymes and here is an excellent explanation...

I believe its used to kill any fungus or bugs in water.

Not a real answer but I think its used for purifying
 
hydrogen peroxide is different from hygrozyme. hygrozyme is an enzyme that breaks down dead root matter, which is a good thing. hydrogen peroxide is water with and extra hydrogen molecule. i have never used it, but i think it breaks down and gives the roots more oxygen (research yourself, don't take my word. i have never used it), and it kills some bad stuff. hygrozyme is NOT hydrogen peroxide, or H2O2.
 
I don't know anything about hygrozyme, but if it's an enzyme then I would be incredulous as to its efficacy. Usually those products require live bacteria to work, and if they're not date stamped and refrigerated you're usually just wasting your money (this is for similar products in the aquatics industry).

You are correct about H2O2 on all counts. Oxidization is a way of changing, chemically, certain compounds, often allowing them to be "cleaned up" naturally (for instance, uptake through root systems). I think that there are other aspects of H2O2 that make it desirable for pest and disease control, but I don't have that information handy. Google Scholar may be a good resource, if you can pick apart the research that you find on it.
 
I wouldnt count on peroxide to cure an infestation,might keep a bug or two away for a very short time but they would be right back.The very structure of the compound is simple, H2O2 > = 2 hydrogen atoms - 2Oxygen atoms , Wich if youve damaged your root system to say overwatering, would be a effecient way to deliver high percent of O2 quickly. By the way for those who are buying expensive horto grade Peroxide, why not place ordinary 3 % in the freezer. Freeze up all the water thats diluting the H2o2 and decant the remaing 3%. And you now have a small amount of 100% h2o2 for cheap, but at 100% that shit should go along way.

I saw a post some guy on about epsom salts. For Mg suppliment, but he was freaking because all he had was lavender scented... Shit ... He's worried his weed will smell like a
french hooker... lol
 
The epsom salt is good for Mg problems....the only thing is a little bit of salt goes along way, and it plays hell with your Ph lvls so you have to keep the Ph in check for a few days after.

Hydrogen peroxide is good for a lot of things, including killing that pesky algea that likes to grow on your medium. But you have to keep in mind that it will kill everything bacteria wise, including the good ones. Not a good thing if you are using organic nutes.

ewwwww I would cry if I grew a plant for that long and it smelled like lavender, probably not even close to the real thing but some yucky fake smell. And I never Cry!!!!

Same thing at my walmart and i told them my hubby would freak if i brought home this stuff so they then showed me where the non scented stuff was (somewhere completly diffrent)
 
Honestly at 3% h2o2 all you need is a drop or 2 per gallon of water. If you make it to strong it will burn your plant.
 
You do realize that there are 3,780 ml to a gallon of water, how effective do you think one drop is going to be?You would recieve no benefit what so ever, the ppm would be absurd
 
ok i added a some peroxide to water 20 oz. bottle just to test and the peroxide also played a role in balancing the ph. Could i use this to balance the ph while also giving it extra O2. 1 more thing my soil is running at about 6.8 and the same for my tap water is that slightly high and should i lower it? thanx

NO NO

Hydrogen and oxygen to be clear play no role in adjusting ph. I just checked the balance to be sure and its just as i thought 6.3 - 6.5.

About the soil, no becaus if you adding in unbalanced nutes, I believe youll hit right at about 7 wich is Nuetral
