Keep lighting 2 inches from top leaves. Transplanting is stressful when your tearing roots. To avoid this allow 1-2 inches of space between root tips and container walls and bottom at all times. Indoors I prefer 18/6 lighting schedule. I strongly believe dark periods are beneficial to growth. I...

    cash crop seeds to buy

Super Silver Haze is very popular top shelf and yields very well. Blue Dream is actually a SSH cross, but because it's over grown in my area Blue Dream fetches a lower price. My circle of fellow patients love og crosses, but many don't yield well. When I was gifted Reserva Privada OG #18 (OG...

    germination question

Remember to keep the roots covered, but allow light to touch the exposed seedlings head. I usually just sprinkle dry medium so it still covers the seed. Now as far as seed germination goes, I personally prefer pre-wetting the seed starting medium and only soaking the seed for five minutes. I've...

    First Colorado outdoor grow questions

You can use pvp tubing and plastic tarp to make a dome for your dark periods, but personally I wouldn't bother. If you want to harvest quickly fill a 4x4 raised bed with a dozen autos. For non autos just suck it up and grow the whole year. If anything buy indica since they finish earlier

    First Colorado outdoor grow questions

You don't need to dig or spend the money on Subcools soil. Start your seeds indoors using Fox Farm Light Warrior. Build a 3x3 ft x 6 in. raised bed for $8 out of untreated lumber. Fill it with four to five different brands of composted potting soil. Lightly feed them a dry organic fertilizer...

when to sprout seeds nw indiana?

1-2 pounds is more realistic. For five pound monsters you need to start in January at the latest, have irrigation setup right, and have supports ready. Usually each plant is on twelve foot centers. Also inside growers tend to favor hydroponic nutrients and outside growers do better with slow...

Any Oaksterdam University grads in the house?

Yeah they are a joke. Most places in my area hire friends, family, and hot chicks with tattoos. As far as selling, that's easy. Show them primo weed and be ready to get swag prices. For top dollar sell direct.

    more flavor in my weed?

There isn't a lot of information on flavoring cannabis. Most people strive to find a strain that naturally has the right aromas and flavorings. Since I've been talking to pipe tobacco smokers, I been seeing lots of debating about flavoring there too. However there is a lot more information...

    germination question

Tap water and potting soil made specifically for seed germination has always served me well . I've never pH the water for my corn, so can't imagine why I'd do that for cannabis. I also never pre-germinate. Always sow directly into the medium

    germination question

There has been times where a seedling I was caring for got stuck under a clump of bark or soil. Survivability depends on how quickly I notice and react. What I do I take a toothpick or small stick and gently pull back the soil until the root is exposed. It's risky because if you bend the root it...

Root growth hormone on actual roots?

It's unnecessary but adding rooting hormone is safe during all phases of growth. It's not the concentration but rather the extra ingredients often added that can be harmful. For example CloneX adds several B vitamins so I stopped using their products since the science isn't there to justify...

    stunted 2nd week seedling

I start in one gallon fabric pots filled with Fox Farm Light Warrior. I've never needed to feed until the third or fourth week and often even then I wait because that's the same time I transplant to a larger container with fresh potting soil. Once in a great while a seedling doesn't make it...

    not enough light? help

I start with 200w CFL from the beginning. Place the bulb about two inches from the soil line or top leaves and adjust daily or as needed. A. One gallon container lasts me three weeks. At that point I begin hardening off and getting it used to outside temperatures.

    noob question

Going back to OP original question, I do not recommend Fox Farm Happy Frog for the seed starting phase. Instead start with Fox Farm Light Warrior which is specifically designed for seed germination.

    Stretchy stem or normal growth?

It's stretched more then I'd be comfortable with. The danger is that if the soil gets dry the stem won't be able to support the leaves and the plant bends over. If that happens and isn't caught soon enough it can kill the plant. The stem is to fragile to tie a stick to it, so burying would be...

    Indoor transplant? Yes No?

Yes, but it's not always easy. Depends on how you feed and harvest. You also have to acclimate the plant slowly.

    trichomes

Pretend you're growing corn. You don't look at the leaves, you look at the ears or in this case the colas. They should look swollen, overall growth should stop, and the hairs should turn colors and recede. Once that happens then you look at trichomes in different areas and make a judgment.
